Re: 2017 NBA Free Agency
I say we should not sign Griffin, he's getting up there in age, and he relies heavily on his athleticism. If he alone joins our team, we still won't make the playoffs.
As much as it hurts me to say this, this offseason we should look to not sign anyone to a long term contract (Unless its Gordon Hayward; He probably wouldn't sign with us anyways). And let the kids continue to develop, and learn how to play defense. In 2018 we look at signing Paul George, and figuring out how to get rid of Mozgov and Deng. They will have two years on their contract, and it should be much easier to trade them. Worst Case scenario: We can trade one, and stretch the other.

Re: 2017 NBA Free Agency
Lol guys. We could sign Griffin, George and Cousins and still not be a championship contender. You're all wanting a magic bullet when no such thing exists. If you can sign one of the top 5 free agents you do it. What getting an Allstar does is get us closer to becoming a contender. So if only Griffin, Paul,Cousins or Hayward was willing to sign you don't "pass" because they won't instantly turn you into a championship team. You sign them because they make us a much team now and in the future.

Re: 2017 NBA Free Agency
it depends if we can offload deng/mozgov
if we can't, we need to preserve that capspace unless its for 1 year deals

Re: 2017 NBA Free Agency
Blake Griffin is a way better player than Ibaka but he will also cost more.
Blake is for sure a max contract guy and I don't think Ibaka is.

Ibaka is not even better than Randle atm. He's been getting worse and worse while Randle has still a couple years of growing in front of him before he enters his prime.

No one. Seriously, no one. They'll be looking to trade guys like Clarkson, Randle, Deng, Mozgov, or maybe Zubac (if the return is someone like George), but other than that, they're not signing anyone unless some trades happen first.

Randle's the better player in a vacuum, but Ibaka is a vastly better fit for what the team needs. Ibaka plays off ball, spaces the floor better, and is a more impactful defender (although Randle is improving quite a bit in that area). I'm not necessarily advocating trading Randle, but he is part of the reason the starting lineup is imbalanced.

This is my thinking as well. I think the new FO is going to look at trades before they do anything else, and those guys will top the list of trade bait.

there's other means to acquire players, not just through the draft.

Re: 2017 NBA Free Agency
So, how much would Darren Collison cost this offseason?
I really want Avery Bradley next offseason, but if they need to be good as soon as possible to draw-in a free agent like Paul George next summer, maybe going ahead and signing a veteran, defensive PG who can shoot would achieve that end.
Collision seems like the best bang for your buck, but George Hill, Jrue Holiday (and even Andre Iguodala) are all great fits as well -- those three would be much more expensive though.

We should do what we should have done last offseason. Preserve our cap space act as a salary dump for other teams looking to shed cap space. No one good is signing to a the team that's stuck with Deng and Mozgov.

oopS... wow thats old... he is definitely not in our plans
im not a fan of blake griffin... he basically a more athletic randle. We need floor spacing and defense.
If we get fultz.... I would be down to trade russel and luol deng for saric and covington. Philly is way under the cap and can absorb deng.

Ibaka is 27. Are you talking about someone else?
Also one thing to mention:
If we don't get the pick.. what's the plan? We would have the 28th pick and the 34th or 35th pick.
Like All Hail mentioned above, I wouldn't sign anyone this year unless Mozgov or Deng was shipped out. Maybe we could get Iguoudala on a 1 year, 10-15M deal?

They say he's 27 but I don't believe it. Maybe 35 was too high but maybe 32-33. They also say Deng is 31, but you really think he looks 31? No way lol.
