Do you think we should?

Post#1 » by joe.linnen » Mon May 5, 2008 10:37 pm

I was wondering should we go after JR Smith. I think he would do well under Phil Jackson.

SF:Odom/Walton/Ariza
PF:Gasol/Turiaf/Radmanovic
C:Bynum/Mihm
SG:Bryant/Smith/Vujacic
PG:Fisher/Farmar

What do you guys think?

This kids got tremendous talent and I believe he may be ready to mature into a solid ball player, but no thanks.

I just don't see where he would fit in with this team. At least not over the next 3-5 years.

great skills, but im more worried abt his attitude if on the team. would he defer to the system or would he shun it? my assumption is for the latter, so i would say no.

Terrible attitude and he isn't to smart. He actually asked if practice is optional. Not only does that make him not that sharp but would he not practice if he didn't have to?

I would like to have him but I wouldn't pay more then the midlevel.

pass, I think he'd be a black hole... pass him the ball and you'd never get him to pass out.

This guy would never embrace his role. He'd be jacking up 30 footers...plus he plays no defense.

not the guy for the Lakers! Besides the fact that he will get offers via his agent for sign and trade for more than the Lakers would be willing to pay. Only a few teams this summer can make nice offers to free agents but just about every team can make sign and trade offers, expect him to get some nice one's.

JR is not Laker material, not to take anything away from his game but he's not what were looking for.

^agreed...i think Jr would flourish under Diantoni's system...

unless he would like to play 15mins a game behind kobe wan kenobi...hey, maybe kobe can forgive him about their "beef" and take him under his wings lol..

kobe - 6'6 220lbs
Jr - 6'6 220Lbs

I like his agressiveness and slashing ability, but last thing the Lakers need right now is another perimeter player that doesnt play defense.

I rather give Ariza those minutes.

i'll take jr smith for MLE.

but jr smith doesn't really fit into the PJ system. he doesn't have great bball IQ... he's just talented, but he also does whatever he wants and that means 0 minutes under PJ.

I'd be happy with adding Chris Duhon and a vet C like Zo Mourning for next season and basically thats just all we want.

He is too `Kobe` to have him, great shooter , great ball handler... I agree there s no need fot him.. But ALL of you will jump over your desks and couches if we get him in the case Vujacic leaves the team 8) `

PS: the guy has more potentional than 2 Machines and also is very very young in his 2-3 season...

Trading Vujacic for Smith would be like trading your Realdoll for a real girlfriend.

Give me the machine.
