Lakers will not match Turiaf's offer...

Post#1 » by DubaLakers » Thu Jul 10, 2008 4:19 pm

The Los Angeles Lakers will not match Turiaf's offer...I heard this on a ESPN sports update on the way to work as a news story. Good luck Ronnie.

Yeah dcash, you could be right, but when he gave the update, he said it not as a question, or an opinion, but as a statement. It was the last thing he said on his update, and I said, "Nooooooooooooo!"

I had not heard about Lamar for Artest though, until I signed on to Real GM to see if you guys heard about Ronnie. That's exciting, until I heard Kenny Thomas' name, yuk! Brad Miller sounds better, but Petrie Dish is going to do us no favors here. Eventhough, I bet he'd like to do the deal as well. I think he's just trying to jam us, because he knows we want Artest. At that cost, I'd like to keep Lamar with his 14M exp contract. Too steep a price, don't you guys think?

I also wonder if Ronnie is in fact gone as I heard, does that change Sasha's position. Does he get a slightly bigger nut?

Yeah man.^

Turiaf is getting paid more than most owners would and could pay for.

Artest to LA would be great for me personally. :D

heard it on a sports update? turiaf hasn't even officially signed the offer sheet yet. you probably just heard that people don't expect them to match. they'll wait most of the 7 days before announcing anything, and they'll certainly wait til they actually know what the offer to turiaf is before revealing anything.

Jason (Boston): Chad... 4 years/$17 million for Turiaf? Seriously? That's what an eighth-man who gives you 6 pts, 3 boards, and a lot of tossed towels during opposing free throws gets paid?

Damn 6pts 3rbs, which is what we'd probably get from Kenny Thomas as well..... BUT AT 8 MILL PER YEAR MORE (X2 FOR THE TAX!) than Ronny would've originally made - that's alot to pay for an Artest/Odom deal throw in

Thomas would have to be included in a Artest trade just to make the money work its got to be either Thomas or Rahim. I'm personally hoping the Lakers can convince the Kings to take Vlad in that deal with Lamar which still makes sense for the KIngs because they get Lamar's expiring contract and they get rid of a non contributor Thomas and add a nice contributor in Vlad. Hopefully the Lakers roster will look something like this.
PG. Fisher, Famar
SG. Kobe, Sasha, rookie or Karl
SF. Artest, Ariza, Luke, Yue
PF. Pau, Kurt Thomas, Kenny Thomas
C. Bynum, Mihm

Vlad had a nice year. I think he has more trade value this summer than last summer. He played well in the playoffs although most of his points came in the 1st half of games.

Quick question Kings fans. For a deal to happen with the Lakers, would you be satisfied with a salary dump of a 6-7m contract and two first round picks?

Not bad bstein except it will be Artest/Ariza. Walton is getting close to seeing his last days in a Lakers uni. He'll probably do just like his pappy (go over to you guys & find his major "A" game) LOL

Coming back with the same exact team usually doesn't work whether you win or lose in the Finals but i think our team was pretty decent & just needed a few small tweaks but we do need to fill Ronny's void. We can't afford to start losing players Sasha included.
