Dear Shoppers,
We think Vlad Rad is a tremendous asset to teams in need of an expert
shooter, a lock down defender and banger that really grabs boards
and mixes it up amongst the trees. Contrary to popular belief, he
will never turn his back on the player he is defending becoming
mezmerized by the ball movement. He'll finish every possesion with
great intensity and is always into the game with a precision only
matched by DFish & KB24. He has a will to win that you can only
be born with. He has a competitive streak that is unmatched by even the
league MVP. He wants to move to the East Coast, so he can be closer
to the Alps. Please inquire within.

Sincerely,

Mitchie Kutshaq

Vlad actually has value to some teams. He'd be a great fit in a D'Antoino system or Don Nelson system. He'd also fit on teams like Philly where they have defenders and athletes all over but need shooters. And at least his contract isn't rediculous. 6 mil isn't terrible compared to some of the deals out there and at least its not 5 FREAKING MORE YEARS like Luke's...

Luke on the other hand.... even at his best has little value to any team that doesn't run a triangle...
Face it, we're stuck with Luke for at least 3 more years.

sixers fan here:

i like this deal. evans becomes expendable with the drafting of speights&signing of brand.

would be tough to see evans go..

but vladamir can play the 3/4 n spread the floor.

As a Sixers fan, I'm thrilled by the acquisition of Elton Brand. My question is how the Sixers can fill their other hole (a shooter off the bench). Who could the Sixers go after to fill this role?

They have no space to sign another free agent, so they'll have to trade for one. But it needs to be a shooter who has the makings of other skills -- defense especially.

The next phase for the 76ers will be to change the way they defend. They like to scramble the game to create turnovers and a quickened tempo, but the elite playoff teams will always defeat that strategy. The Sixers need to establish a strong man-to-man defense with an ability to play half-court offense if they ever want the signing of Brand to lead to real contention. While they need shooting, the shooter they acquire must be able to contribute athletically at both ends of the floor.

Anyway you look at it, whether it's adding perimeter shooting, developing their young players or improving their fundamentals defensively and in the half court, the 76ers need to be given at least a couple of years to turn the acquisition of Brand into a deep playoff run.

This trade doesn't work. It misses the 125% + $100K rule by a very small margin. And no, you
can't aggregate a TPE with players. So unfortunately it can't happen this way. If Philly were
able to include 1 minimum salary player then it could work. The problem is that Philly
doesn't really have many guys that would be considered filler. They potentially could have a
couple of free agents (Herbert Hill & Louis Amundson) that could fit the bill, but I am not
sure if they have renounced them when they signed Elton Brand.

If they could get it to work, this is a deal that could certainly help the Lakers, they would
save about $9.5M (including Luxury Tax) over the next 3 years. And it would help to alleviate
the logjam at sf.
