The Hate That Is The Gen Board

Been on the Gen Board a lot the past few weeks and I gotta say the Lakers and our fans are probably the most hated there. It doesn't matter what the topic is it can be anything and some how some way the Lakers will end up in the thread. I counted on hand at least 3 topics that didn't have squat to do with the team yet there they were right in the middle.........again.

The funniest topic there was one on Vince Carter that spewed into a Kobe/Laker hate fest. I just want to give props to the guys I see in there rippin it up and hold down our team. Guys like Phil2.0, KNO,Tony Montana, Chubby Chaser, dcash4, imworthy, and tbk. I know that it's others too but these are some of the guys I see the most there.

Most people go there and suck up, I go to defend my team and if somebody gets sideways I call them on it period.

Like Phil said in one of the post there it's just envy more then anything and I love it. Us and probably the Blazer fans are targeted the most because of Bynum and Oden. Two guys that no matter what you think of them now, they will dominate the West period end of story.

I just want to know what you guys think of the Gen Board. And to the rest of our family go there and rep the Laker board, but do it in a civil manner. It'll take a nation of millions to hold us back !

theyre jealous little bitches. don't worry lakers will destroy their teams one by one. I dont post alot but almost all of my posts are in the general board and do talk back to those haters when i get the chance .

deep down inside they know lakers will own every team in the league. I bet some portland loser is reading this thread right now to report it back to their own board with a thread titled "LOOLLZZ lakers fans crying in their own board!!"

season can't start soon enough. time for the lakers to remind every fan of other teams why they hate us.

There is a lot of laker hate on that general board. And usually it does have to do with bynum lol. I go more on the p.c. board, though I've started getting into things on the gen b. I try to cite myself as a laker fan while giving unbiased analysis and defense...but ima try to start going strong to aide of the laker defense against the bad, unwarranted attacks.

I grew up on the lakers...they are the first basketball I really followed, understood, and liked (back in 97-98-99-into the 3-peat). This has inspired me to not let anybody **** with my team anymore lol.

i'll respond to posts that are misinformed. the problem is that a lot of lakers fans respond to the slightest criticism of bynum with full out homerism.

if people are giving misinformation, corrent it. if they're doubting, let it be. its sweeter that way.

and people posting/wasting more than one or two sentences on that poster harlemheat, wow. just move on. point, laugh, but argue? c'mon, you're better than that. if you need practice just read Rox_Nix_Nox's posts and you'll learn how to ignore really quick.

the general board would be a better place without the likes of a certain poster from hot harlem with a Duncan avy and some french guy that used to have an old man in his avy. nothing, but pure jelous hatred comes out of these guys keyboards. good thing the ignore button works in the new realgm look.

I wanted to make him stew in his own torture that is downing the Lakers and Kobe at any given notice. Dude is straight up EDIT. But I agree dcash that is part of the problem. If somebody is stupid let'em be stupid and uninformed. It really doesn't bother me as much that people try to down Bynum, I know otherwise.

Hatred because the Lakers are the most successful franchise in NBA. Maybe not in terms of Championships because Celtics have 17 over Lakers 14 but the Lakers have overall more success with 29 conference titles (finals appearances) and 28 division titles and missing the playoffs only 5 times.

Some of the best players have played on this franchise, Magic, Kareem, Wilt, West, Shaq, Kobe, and of-course Smush Parker and Kwame Brown who have ingrained themselves as Lakers top talent of all time.

And now we have another opportunity to get a couple chips in the next few seasons with the Best Player on the Planet and two twin towers bringing finesse, defense (shot-blocking), offensive power. And the oh so well oiled machine, the oh so hatted lights out Sasha.

This will be a great season for us if we go to the Finals and win while dominating the regular Season.

Dcash is right on. As long as you don't feel the need to start a squabble over every little insult -- some guys have a huuuuuge problem with this, especially if Kobe is involved -- the general board is a lot of fun. Sometimes I get into scraps, but I try my best to ignore the pot shots and move on. Once you figure out who the instigators are and who the legitimate fans are, it's not that hard to do.

TKB is the gold standard for Laker fandom on the GB -- always classy, always level headed. A great example to follow.

In a lot of ways I actually prefer the GB to the Lakers board because I'm also a huge fan of the league in general and I enjoy the variety of topics on hand. It was great during the Olympics this summer in light of the fact so few fans here seemed to care. It's been a lifesaver, too, during the offseason, when the only Lakers news is Bynum and whatever training camp fodder we're picking up.

Jealousy and envy are the main reasons. We have the best coach,and the best player. Once bynum get's into the fold,we will have the best team. People can hate all they want,and come up with b.s. scenario's about how our team won't mesh,but I think gasol,and odom,both proved they can play together. Kobe can play with anyone,and bynum is not selfish at all,so he should blend right in.

Just take it in stride and take the advice of maino. When you see haters,wave and greet them!(Hi haters).

Yes, there is a lot of hate towards the Lakers and the Laker fan base on the GB. Call it what you want but its there.

I'm going to stick in a post here as a Gen Board mod.

First off, TYVM for the kind words Sedale, and I agree with the points you bring up about how to post on the board.

Remember that we are representing Laker fans there. If we act over sensitive and always get into heated discussions for the smallest things, we're not going to be well liked as a fan base among other fan bases, so try not to get caught up in every little jab that gets taken against the Lakers (I know there are people there who are there just to irritate, but try to give the other cheek). Being the premier franchise in NBA history will make people take jabs against our team because of jealousy and what not. Sedale is spot on when he says that once you spend a little time there, you both see who are there just to stir up things and once you learn to just ignore those people it can be a lot of fun over there. There are some great posters from other franchises there to talk hoop with.
