If you could get him

Post#1 » by Ebone29 » Fri Sep 26, 2008 3:28 pm

Would you want Ben Gordon?

I think he would almost make Kobe a double digit assist guy and STILL average 30ppg (Kobe that is). Not to mention make you guys a solid elite in the NBA.

Gordon would put up 20ppg automatic.

Guys, things are slow on the boards lately, just answer his question.

Yes, if we COULD get him, I would be all for it. I actually thought about this a few weeks ago, but got over it pretty quickly b/c its just not realistic.

If it were realistic, I think he could be a pretty good Tri PG. He handles the ball well enough, hes a threat from any range, and he can release defensive pressure (of the sort we saw against Boston) as good as anyone in the L.

I think everyone around the league is getting lost in this contract squable, the guy can flat out play the game. Proof - anyone who's played the game at the guard position knows how difficult it is to be effective (let alone stellar) without an inside presence. He has never had an inside presence. Food for thought.

No, I don't like his D or his Salary cap hit... if the offer was Vlad and Luke I'd be into it, but we need a D minded point guard who'd not going to get totally torched by Williams and Rondo etc..

This question has no substance to it.

IF we could get him..... [ insert for what] because that would allow us to properly answer the question.

I think the question is just more about fit, at least that is what I assumed in answering it. From this angle, its interesting.

Depends on the conditions of how we got him. He's a good player, but if it was for the salary he's demanding I'd stay away.

If we unloaded Luke and/or Radman for him I'd kiss his feet though.

yes, there are many scenarios where it would be awesome to get him. But those are unlikley, as tkb has mentioned. ( vlad/luke)

The question is open ended because this is the NBA and there has to be some give and take.

We have about 500 SFs on our roster. None of them can make life hard for Paul Pierce, who is one of two players (LBJ) that we simply don't have an answer for. If there is one need we have, it's not another offensive guard.

But yeah, I'd want him here in place of Radman/Luke if you could swing such a deal.

This question has been going around since last summer when Kobe wanted to be traded. I would say it has come up 5 times in the last year plus. Great offense and no defense. If we drafted him. I would be in love with his game. To trade for him. It would be more going out the door than coming in. 80 million or so he wants. Give me young talent that will not cost so much.

No.

No, Kobe would not average 10+ APG if Gordon was here nor does it matter if he does.

No, Gordon would not automatically average 20 PPG here either.

Kobe could put up 10 assist a game with what our team already has. Gasol, Bynum, Odom, Fisher, Farmar, Vujacic, and Radmanovic. I think he could very easly put up 10 plus assist rather easy. So no to Ben Gordon we have all the offence that we need.

He'd be great starter for a team that needs scoring and has the money to pay for it... we don't fit that bill.
