Space Cadet on his Defense

Post#1 » by Slava » Tue Oct 7, 2008 3:43 am

"Never until those finals did I realize how much defense matters in the game of basketball," Lakers forward Vladimir Radmanovic said. "I tried to focus more on my defense than anything else this offseason. That's the part of the game I lack the most."

This would be funny if we didn't lose in the Finals as Paul Pierce waltzed his way to MVP.

But if Vlad plays defense for the first time in his life next season, wouldn't it all have been worth it?

I really can't wait to hear Phil's reaction to that confession. Now that Kwame's gone, the cadet is gonna be his dawg!

Wow.

Ok, so show us the money. Maybe he can avoid getting traded after all.

Pau doesn't exactly play stellar focus defense either. He's a space cadet in his own right on the defensive end. Maybe he had a similar revelation this summer.

That is absolutely amazing... Seven year veteran... Ariza and Kobe will gobble up 75% of the SF minutes anyways...

Can't say I'm surprised in the slightest. His lack of defensive awareness and effort is glaringly obvious in the way he plays. It's more disappointing that none of his coaches, including Phil, have ever made him accountable for it. Hopefully our depth will make him expendable, and we can find somebody stupid enough to take him off our hands.

The saddest part is he has the physical skills. He's surprisingly fast and nimble, but jeez what a stupid thing to say.
