The Lakers ARE NOT trying to go 73-9!

The Lakers ARE NOT trying to go 73-9!

People are trying to paint this picture and why not. Its a good story. Its intriguing. Heck its Kobe vs. MJ and we miss seeing those 2 battle.

The Lakers ARE NOT trying to win 73 games. The Lakers are going for the championship. The Lakers may try to shoot for the best record of all time in the next few years but that kind of stuff is for teams that need a challenge to DEFEND their title.

This team wants home court and wants a championship. This team will rest players that are injured even if it costs the Lakers a few games. This year is all about a championship!!!

Are the Celtics trying to win 73 games? They are in a position where they need the extra motivation moreso than the Lakers?

Who's not trying to win at least 73 games? Every team wants as many wins as possible, and no team is going to hold back. That doesn't mean they'll get there, but to say they're not trying is wack YO.

I'm wondering if Celtics go 72-10, then we'll have to go 73-9 to have the homecourt advantage throughout the playoffs !? :D

I think records get broken as time goes by and you over achieve with progress again with time.
I dont think your focus should be on records becasue that shouldnt be your goal/focus, your goal should be the CHIP nothing else.

Whatever gets home court advantage throughout the playoffs and gets the title.
If that means that the Lakers need to pull off 73 wins then hell, I'm good for that. I don't know Kobe personally or any of the other Lakers for that matter. I don't know what they're thinking in terms of the season record. I don't think that you can speak for them as a fan unless you hear it coming directly from their mouthes that they don't want to win every game they play. In fact, I think that totally contradicts the mentality of Kobe and these Lakers, but especially Kobe..the guy hates to lose.

The Lakers are doing extremely well right now and could very well get to 73 wins if not more. If that happens that's something to be extremely proud of, but it's not the title. You win consecutive titles based on your will power and drive to do just that, you shouldn't need extra motivation.

The only record they should be chasing is most consecutive championships in any league.

It begins this season.

So the Lakers are or aren't trying to lose at least 9 more games?

Why are the Lakers trying to lose games?

Coach Jackson, Fish, Gasol, LO and others have commented that the goal here is not to win 73 games. Have you guys been listening to the radio and the sound bites?

I'm sure it would be cool to get a single digit loss column but Jacksons goal is to keep his players fresh and healthy. He wants this team to grow and that is more important the # of W's.

Players learn from mistakes too. PJ is known to let the guys on the floor figure things out. Even it costs the team in the short term.

This Laker team is thinking long term like May and June.

Our success in May and June would be much greater with homecourt advantage, and winning as many games as possible during the regular season, including possibly going 73-9, would definitely give us that.

lakers want that larry o'brien trophy

if it means going 73-9 to clip the celtics for HCA, so be it

but as long as we get that trophy and HCA can only help

73 isn't the ultimate goal, the championship is
they don't want to have the burden of the 73 wins hanging over them, if they get it great, if they don't fine, there is still the big prize out there

but they are not going to openly try to not go after it
