As slow as he recovered last year, Im guessing hes out for the season and the Lakers just arent admitting it?

Pretty much...
Greatest comment I've ever received.

Tough news. On the bright side LA still has great depth and can move LO into the starting lineup to finish the regular season..
Also there is a chance he might be able to make it back during the playoffs? Trying to be positive..

BULLSH**!! This the only way the celts can beat us, without Bynum. If we're healthy we take the west and the finals outright, easily. I hope he plays again this season

Re: BYNUM OUT 8 TO 12 WEEKS!!!
Los Angeles Lakers center Andrew Bynum will be out eight to 12 weeks with a tea of the medial collateral ligament in his right knee.
An MRI revealed the extent of the injury, which resulted from a collision Saturday with Lakers forward Kobe Bryant early in the first quarter of a 115-98 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies.
The MRI was performed in New York on Sunday at the Hospital for Special Surgery.
Bynum, who missed the final 46 games of last season with a left knee injury he suffered against Memphis on Jan. 13, 2008, was averaging a career-best 14 points this season with 8.2 rebounds per game.

Well.. 12 weeks from now is April 27th. 8 weeks would be March 30th.
Hopefully it's closer to the 8 week mark. Hopefully we can trade for another big capable body to play C right now. This is going to wear down Pau, a lot.

Re: BYNUM OUT 8 TO 12 WEEKS!!!
Even if he makes it back for the playoffs, he wont be in the same form that he's been the last few weeks
How does this happen 2 years in a row?

Re: BYNUM OUT 8 TO 12 WEEKS!!!
Time for Mitch to pull something special again... Good thing it happened before the trade deadline...
Other than that... Sucks! Will we ever get to see this team at full strength?
In my heart, I don't believe Bynum will be back this year. It just takes him too long to recover and then too long to get back in shape.

Re: BYNUM OUT 8 TO 12 WEEKS!!!
Looking at the schedule 3 months puts us in the end of round 1 in the playoffs or the start of round 2 if we get by. Our last regular season game is April 14th against Utah. And that date puts him at 10 weeks. Ideally we would want him back on the court 2 weeks before playoffs start and that's at 8 weeks in the start of April. But it's going to take a while for him to get back to prime form, He just NOW got back to his beastly form from his injury last year. Does anyone know or can remember any other player who had a tear in their MCL?? And how long it took them to come back? Just as a point of reference?

Re: BYNUM OUT 8 TO 12 WEEKS!!!
I don't think it's possible to make any sort of predictions or projections at this point. Especially judging by last year, when he was supposed to make it back after eight weeks and couldn't make it back at all. Best to not even think about it at this point. He's going to be gone for a long, long time.

Re: BYNUM OUT 8 TO 12 WEEKS!!!
We can only hope one of the weaker teams "give away" one of there big men for a package around the deadline. I dont think we need an all star calibur player. Just someone to help us.
I think in the meantime powell should def get those minutes. He has been impressive in his few minutes.
There is also the option of trading odom for someone legit in the frontcourt. I doubt that happens though.
