Signature Guidelines

Every RealGM board member has the option of attaching a few words or a picture as a signature at the end of each post. View your profile to edit this information and many other options related to your account.

If you wish to use an image in your signature, the physical size of the image can be no wider than 550 pixels and no higher than 90 pixels. If you use more than one picture in your sig the combined size of all pictures must be within the 550x90 pixel size limit. These limits are for the benefit of our members with slower internet connections. We also don't want huge images to detract from the discussions on the boards.

If you only use text in your signature you may have a total of 5 lines of normal sized text including spaces. If you exceed the limit of lines for text your signature will be removed and you will receive a warning.

If you wish to use both an image and text in your signature the rules are as follows. Images between 61 and 90 pixels in height may have 1 line of normal sized text. Images 60 pixels in height or less may have up to 3 lines of normal sized text including spaces. Images that are 15 pixels high or less may have up to 4 lines of normal sized text including spaces. If you exceed the allowed amount of text your signature will be removed and you will receive a warning.

Finally, we don’t mind if you want to post a link to your personal website in your sig, all we ask is that you not use your signature to actively promote or recruit users to click your signature. If someone is interested they will visit the link in your sig. There is no need for phrases like “Join Now”, “Click My Sig”, or “Click Here for a Great Deal”. We allow signatures so our forum members can personalize their posts, they are not there so you can spam the site. If you are using your signature to solicit users it will be removed and you will receive a warning.

We will be enforcing the signature rules using a 3 strikes policy. The first two times a user violates the rules their signature will be removed and they will receive a warning. The third time we have to remove a user's signature we will revoke their signature privileges permanently.

So have fun with your signatures but please try and keep within the signature guidelines.
