The Winnipeg Jets have acquired the rights to the goaltender from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for a conditional 7th-round draft choice in 2013. http://thesco.re/MLdNQu

Seems like a decent deal for The Jets and puts The Booby Lou to Toronto deal in motion sooner the later for me

If they get him signed he'll be a solid back-up for them, which is something they need because Mason's done.

Jets love their hockey so it's a good environment for him. Too bad it didn't work out in TO. Hopefully his health issues are behind him and his game gets more consistent.

I hope REALLY hope Luongo never dons a Leafs uni.

Really? Where have you heard that? I can't tell if this is the kind of risky deal Burke would love, or pass up (I still think the Kessel deal was too much to give up. Did he do the Rask deal too? Not crazy about that one either...).

The price seems wayy too steep for a 33 year old goalie who got outplayed from the starter goalie position. You just always get a sense with him that he'll let in that one untimely goal (or five) at the worst time/most important game. And if he thinks he was in under pressure in Vancouver...well, good luck to him in TO.

Doesn't he have a no-trade clause, though? I thought the Leafs were off the wish list.

I think that the outcome of the CBA negotiations will also play a factor. If there's no hockey this season and Leafs give up a lot for Luongo, then he's 34 and after a year off. That's an even a bigger gamble to give up the farm for.
