Trevor Linden has been named president of hockey operations for the Canucks, the team announced Wednesday.
The move comes a day after the Canucks fired president and GM Mike Gillis. Vancouver is 35-33-11 this season and will miss the playoffs.
Linden played 16 seasons for Vancouver, including seven as team captain, according to an ESPN.com report.
I actually think this will be a good move for the Canucks. They wanted a former player to run things and Linden will do a good jobs of getting the fans back on board.
