Calgary - Carolina

Post#1 » by Nolan » Thu Nov 17, 2011 6:35 am

Here's the deal:

Calgary trades:

Rene Bourque, Anton Babchuk and Matthew Stajan

Carolina trades:

Tim Brent, Bobby Sanguinetti, 2012 4th round pick

Why does Calgary do this deal? They shed just over 9 million in salary which gives them the flexability to finally rebuild (like they should) or take a run at a big name player via trade or free agency this summer.

Brent is decent centerman that could help them out right now, Sanguinetti is a solid prospect with some upside, and that 4th will them restock their very very bare shelves.

Why Carolina does this? They've struggled mightly so far this year and they need a shake up. Bourque gives them a big body that goes to the net and scores goal, Babchuk is a big right handed shot to help their struggling power play and Stajan despite his struggles in Calgary still could be a productive two way center.
