OKC gets a center

Post#1 » by Clip34life » Wed Apr 28, 2010 7:52 am

Simple swap.

Clips trade: Kaman
Clips get: Green, Krstic, Maynor

OKC trades: Green, Krstic, Maynor
OKC Receives: Kaman

OKC gets a legit third option and traditional center to help anchor their offense on the inside. Kaman and Ibaka would really clean up the glass. Collison backs them both up.

Clips get a good defensive SF in Green, backup PG in Maynor, and a decent C in Krstic who can spell Jordan.

Is there anymore reasoning for the Clips to make this trade?

Fills out their depth with some decent talent. They can then afford to go all out on a FA without having to sign a bunch of scrubs to fill out the roster. On the other hand they could sign 2-3 good players and have a deep bench. I feel that Deandre Jordan is ready to step up at C, if we have an abundance of talent at C it's best to parlay Kaman into value at positions of need. This does that while giving us an adequate C in Krstic in case Jordan isn't quite ready yet.

OKC would probably give up one of their 1st round picks this year but it would still be a home-run trade for the Thunder. They'd still have cap-space to hire a backup PG. Clipps could package both their picks to get in the top 5 or use them in a trade.

I like it for OKC if they can get a legit backup PG somehow. Maynor is money and he gets good minutes. Maybe if they can sign Livingston?

But Kaman is a great talent and he would fit well next to Ibaka. OKC would have to get another post player for the rotation but that shouldn't be too difficult.

Don't see why LA does it. Green's advanced statistics don't make him look like a good defender and, really, why trade an actual All Star to take a chance on a guy that looks like he'll be a solid starter at best and 2 career backups.

I'd rather have Collison instead of Krstic since he is a better defender (from what I have seen), and with the hopes that Rhino is resigned, we need a C with defense to come off the bench with him. Also, I'm not high on Green being the SF that the Clippers need, so I'd ask for the Thunder's earlier first this year, and try to package those two right away in an attempt to get Wesley Johnson. (And use #8 on someone like Whiteside, Aldrich or Monroe)

Overall though, I think more value is needed from the Thunder's end, but I'd still pull the trigger.

I really like the trade for the clips. We get a guy in Green who can be our sf of the future along with a guy in Maynor that I expect to be a really good backup pg in this league. If the thunder were willing to throw in the suns pick then it is an absolute no brainer.

Don't like it for OKC. I'm not a Kaman fan. High volume, mediocre efficiency scoring center who turns it over too much and isn't a great rebounder / defensive player.. plus he's injury prone.

if I were clipps I rather send him to Det. for Prince/1st pick if that was available, Prince is older but is expiring, if he works out you can resign him at better rate but same time you add another possible high lotto pick. Prince can still get it done and I still think he's a better player then Green on both sides IF healthy.

I agree I would switch Collison w/ Krstic for the improved defense. Then again, Jordan already plays great defense and we might want a more offense-oriented player at C to rotate in.

If Detroit would do this than by all means.

IMO this trade makes a ton of sense. OKC finally adds a center and the Clips grab the SF they need, a solid PG to put Baron out to pasture and they can just draft Aldrich in the draft.

Maynor/Gordon/Green/Griffin/Aldrich is a nice young team.

Yeah, but I expect Jordan to start, and if we retain Rhino, I'd like a defensive C to pair him with.

I'd love to add Theo Ratliff to the roster next season as well, he'll help Jordan on his shot blocking and is much better than Brian Skinner

I dunno, but this looks like a steep price for an inconsistent, injury prone, highly paid player that has rarely played on winning teams.

Maynor is an excellent back up rookie PG
Green I like, esp. at SF
Krstic or Collison - both expiring big men with differing but effective skill sets.

I'd rather receive Thabo than Krstic to fill the Clippers need for a good defensive wing. Clippers draft a C like Aldrich with their lottery pick.
