What vet SG would you give for the 6th pick + a player??

Post#1 » by 51X3RF4N » Sun May 16, 2010 6:11 am

The Sixers board has a reliable source saying that they are hoping to land the 2nd pick through the lottery process. If that doesn't happen, they will attempt to trade up to #2 and land Turner. He is the guy they want.

If they can't trade up, the are going to package the 6th pick, or 7th, 8th, 9th depending on lottery results. But for our discussion's sake, let's say it's the 6th.

They will include a player such as Thad/Speights/Lou Will.....likely not Iggy. They could also include Dalembert's expiring contract, or Kopono's or Willie Green's expiring contracts. They likely won't include Brand because nobody will trade for him. They want a VET SG who can help them win now. Vet could mean anyone from 23 years old to 32 years old. I doubt they go younger or older than that. Also, likely not going to get a top tier player, but 2nd tier is no doubt where they are looking.

So, given the option of Thad/Speights/Lou...you get one of them....plus the 6th pick in this draft...assuming Wall/Turner/Cousins/Favors/Johnson are off the board, what vet SG would you be willing to part with and which of the players from the Sixers would you want in return??

Thanks!

You can have Rip for expirings. Keep your pick (unless you feel the need to help Detroit out even more).

Sounds like a JJ S&T. Joe Johnson for Daly / L. Williams and player selected #6.

Haha the premise is moving up to the #2 and it gets completely ignored.

That's not how I read it, I read it as the Sixers want the number two pick, but if they can't have that they'll go trade their #6 pick for a good SG. And I'm with TBhawksfan... S&Ting JJ for the #6 and Lou Williams would be great... but I think the Sixers would work a deal out before JJ would decide an S&T to Philly was his best choice.

That would be a fantastic deal for the Hawks, however the Sixers would be screwed towards the end of Brand and JJ's contracts.

Actually, JJ works for me.

And if all you are asking for is Lou Will and the pick, I say do it now!

Jrue/JJ/Iggy/Brand/Speight
FA/Meeks/Kapono/Thad/Smith

I'm down for that.

Woah, good thing reliable sources are saying the 76ers want to move up in the lottery process. I figured they were looking to move down. We're so lucky to have reliable sources for stuff like this...

L. Williams and the pick isn't enough. Got to get more salary and talent back.

We wouldn't even offer Lou + 6 for Joe Johnson. If we give up Dalembert in the process to match salaries, we aren't a contender anyway. Plus for as big of a Johnson fan as I am, I'm not giving him a 6 year max deal. And why would Joe want to come here anyway?

Bad premise, bad deal. No thanks.
