I had thought the Raps might have to include the 13th pick and send it to Washington...

Do you still make the deal?

washington declines this trade easily. i'd rather pay arenas than pay hedo and diop. for the wizards team, thornton>augustin.

doubt they would take both hedo and diop for him. arenas can still be productive. diop wont get pt and hedo is garbage

There's been one completely over the top report about this from John Mitchell, that's it. To this point, it's unclear as to the validity of it and we're waiting for some follow ups.

Let's assume the Wiz would like to dump the 80 million remaining on Arenas' contract...

It would make sense give then legal troubles he's had this past year...as well as the inevitable selection of Wall

That's definitely a sound stance; I'm more calling into question the over the top haterade consumption in the particular article that caught the attention of the wiretap and also refuting the degree of desperation and urgency in the dump.

My view is we have:

Ernie Grudnfeld - GM: Hates Gil
Ted Leonsis - Owner: Question mark, but probably not a hyper extreme view
Flip Saunders - Coach: Definite Gil backer

Let's assume as a whole...the organization would like to move on

What type of return can they reasonably expect for Arenas?

They'll almost certainly have to take back an ugly contract or two...

Are there more than 2 or 3 teams that would even consider taking on Arenas?

I personally wouldn't think so...

If the 'Zards are committed to moving Gil, I'm thinking the best bet is if a star free agent makes a push in July that 'something needs to happen' and that something is Gil.

For example, 'Bron goes to New York with a power forward and says 'trade Chicken Curry, Chandler and Walker for Gil'. Doesn't cost any cap space.

Or maybe Dallas makes a splash under pressure from Dirk (for example, I'm not saying Dirk signs off on that).

If Bosh pushes for it to stay in Toronto, then something there maybe.

I don't know what these guys druthers are, but that type of thing.

Second scenario is a team like Orlando biting down and taking a big gamble for a chip.

But at the very least, I would expect the Zards to wait till July even if it's true that the organization has really decided on moving him. A draft night deal seems very unlikely unless it's for expirings without incentive from Washington.

I think the best fit for Arenas would be in Orlando...or possibly New York

Having said that...given their history...I have a feeling the Knicks will be more sensible this time around with the types of contracts they have on their roster
