Miami/Minnesota/OKC/New Orleans
Miami trades: Michael Beasley, Daequan Cook, James Jones, #18
Miami receives: Jeff Green, Ryan Gomes(only 1 million guaranteed), Kyle Weaver(un-guaranteed contract)
Why Miami does this? Green for Beasley is an upgrade because he'd be a better fit. Gomes 4.2 mil contract is only 1 mill guaranteed next season so they cut him and cut payroll. Weavers contract is not guaranteed he'll be cut. It would give the Heat close to 35 million in cap space enough to resign Wade AND 2 other max contracts AND probably enough to sign Ray Allen for whats left over.
Minnesota trades: Ryan Gomes, Ramon Sessions, Ryan Hollins, #16
Minnesota receives: Michael Beasley, Nick Collison
Last summer they overpaid for Sessions and Hollins this gives Kahn a chance to undo those mistakes. Gomes is a nice player for them if they want him back they can resign him when Miami cuts him, they can resign Hollins too after OKC cuts him. Basically they are dumping future payroll and a mid 1st for Beasley who is still a potential all-star.
OKC trades: Jeff Green, Nick Collison, DJ White, Kyle Weaver
OKC receives: James Posey, Daequan Cook, Ryan Hollins, Ramon Sessions, #11, #16, #18
Why OKC does this? The picks obviously. Ryan Hollins would likely be cut so they'd have to eat the remaining 4.8 million on his contract. Posey wouldn't have to be cut but his contract similar too but is a year longer than Collisons so OKC takes on an additional year in salary. Cook had a down year but he was injured all year, he'll be a great 3pt shooter off the bench.
New Orleans trades: James Posey, #11
New Orleans receives: James Jones (only 1.8 million guaranteed), DJ White
Even though Chouest isn't a penny pincher like Shinn they still need to dump Posey to be major FA players next summer. James Jones contract is only 1.8 mil guaranteed. With this deal they will save 3.6 mil in payroll + 3.6 mil in Lux Tax + 7 mill in payroll in 11-12 a total savings of 14.2 million. Plus DJ White has potential.

MIN doesn't want Collison, and it seems like if OKC is selling its cap space, MIN would simply do the same thing.

Re: Miami/Minnesota/OKC/New Orleans
How was Sessions a mistake? And then we'd add a 3rd PF... Seeing as Miami is probably willing to trade its players for less than they're worth in order to obtain more cap space I think we'd get a better deal by cutting out the other teams

As a Wolves fan, I don't think we get enough value there. Giving Gomes partial (+ value), Sessions (+ value), Hollins (-) and 16 (+) for Collison (-) and Beasely (?).
Seems like Gomes and a 2nd ought to net Bease and miami's first if the pure objective is capspace.

^ **** no. We wouldn't even trade Beas, Cook, Jones and our 18th pick for capspace unless a max FA already was guaranteed, let alone For Gomes who still has a cap hold and a 4th 2nd round pick.

Don't want Beasley, REALLY don't want Collison.
And Sessions isn't overpaid. The only negative asset from the Wolves in that deal is Hollins, who is a relatively small problem.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

I dont think any GM in their right mind would trade a top pick for 11/16/18/21/26.

Because some other team needs six firsts?

Re: Miami/Minnesota/OKC/New Orleans
Strange trade for OKC. I don't think it makes sense. Ryan Hollins and Ramon Sessions are signed to long term contracts. The Thunder have Ibaka and Maynor filling those roles at the moment on rookie scale. Sessions might be better than Maynor, but not enough in the ~14 minutes of backup PG to make any real difference.
Jeff Green isn't perfect but he's better than James Posey, who has another year left. Again, I think OKC is on the losing end of the stick there.
Those three selections aren't enough to make up for what we're losing, and the salary we'd be comitting at superfluous spots (Hollins, Sessions, Posey). The Thunder could find better ways to use Jeff Green+ expirings, IMO.

Re: Miami/Minnesota/OKC/New Orleans
Nick Collison doesn't have negative value. He's a very good defensive player, sets great screens on offense, great teammate... doesn't have much value on MIN but he's a solid rotation player on a contender.

Getting some combination of Udoh, Patterson, Orton, Sanders, Whiteside, Alabi, Seraphin, Brackins, and Tibor Pleiss yes it can be a good thing.
Westbrook/Maynor/Sessions
Sefolosha/Harden/Cook
Durant/Posey
Patterson/Udoh/Sanders
Ibaka/Orton/Mullens/Alabi
But I guess its not good enough for the Wolves.

Umm, Minny likes Sessions and the 16. We certainly don't need another power forward. This makes no sense.
23 or 16 + Session + Gomes, for the 10 pick and TJ Ford from Indiana is a much better deal for us.
