Sixers | Thunder: Deal?

Post#1 » by WillyJakkz » Thu May 26, 2011 9:55 pm

Who picks up the phone to make this deal 1st?

Maybe someone else can find a 3rd team (but here's the start) so Russell Westbrook can become the "Derrick Rose of The East":

Sixers trade: PG Jrue Holiday| SG Evan Turner
Thunder trade: PG Russell Westbrook| C BJ Mullens

Sixers:
Westbrook| Iguodala| Young| Brand| FA Center

Image
Russell Westbrook

Why: Russell Westbrook gets his wish to be the #1 and Philly gains an explosive perimeter scorer who'll take all the pressure off Andre Iguodala to take the Sixers to the next level. W/ Collins coaching, he'd put Philly in an even better position to compete w/ Miami and Chicago for years to come as Westbrook, Iggy, Young, and Brand would be able to stand toe to toe w/ the Heatles.

Thunder:
Holiday| Harden (Turner)| Durant| Ibaka| Perkins

Image
Jrue Holiday
Image
Evan Turner

Why: Thunder gain the better PG in Jrue Holiday who'll also be able to help in the development of PF Serge Ibaka offensively while also being able to stand down to Thunder franchise player SF Kevin Durant. SG Evan Turner could either backup Harden or he or Thabo could be packaged w/ the Thunder's 1st RD Pick or Perkins or whomever to gain a new PF (sliding Ibaka to C)or a new C (keeping Ibaka at PF).

Thoughts? Deal?

Westbrook is the better player but Jrue hasn't peaked yet. Westrook is also ready for a huge payday. Why would the Sixers give up Turner? Seriously, the two least likely Sixers to be traded are the two you put into this deal.

Of course they are but don't wanna beat the same drum that's been beaten before (Iggy to OKC).

Open ya mind, trying to do something different here.

And it's not "giving up on Turner", it's probably what it'd take to get OKC to "give up Westbrook".

The Sixers accept this deal immediately. I love Jrue, and Turner could turn out to be a pretty good player, but I highly doubt either can turn into the player that Westbrook is right now. I look at both as potential All Stars, but Westbrook is good enough to be a franchise player IMO.

Turner doesn't fit in OKC, not with the emergence of Harden. Send him to a third team and get the Thunder a post threat. Utah for Millsap + Miles + pick maybe?

Can you imagine Westbrook in Philly? Without any other major scoring option he would probably average 30 points on 40 shots. It would be disgusting, Westbrook would make Iverson look like Steve Nash.

Philadelphia fans would love it because he would be the high scoring low efficiency guard they're used to.

Sorry, don't like Westbrook much at all. And Westbrook/Iguodala/Young at the 1-3 would provide the worst floor spacing the league has ever seen.

While Westbrook might be a franchise player, he's about to get paid and Philly has literally no complimentary pieces to him at all. We would have to trade almost every single player on the roster to find players that would fit well with him, and needless to say we wouldn't have a lot of 'super attractive' pieces left.

The dynamic of our team doesn't really change... we'd just be a better version of our squad from this year, while having a much, much better go-to option at the end of games.

Westbrook
Meeks
Iguodala
Brand
Hawes

Considering Westbrook is a month younger than Turner, I'd say that's a much better team to build on than what we currently have. and we'd have plenty of time to get the right pieces in place. Throw a deal together for Varejao, and I think that would be a pretty damn good team immediately.

I'd accept the deal, but I highly doubt the Thunder would trade Westbrook to get YOUNGER

Agree, his value is closer to those two than Holiday. But I don't think his value equals theirs. I like Westbrook, but his value has taken a hit. GM's know he might not fit in OKC.

This isn't the right deal for Westbrook though.

Yeah I that was exactly what I was thinking, Thunder could send Turner + to a team in need of a SG.

Chicago, Cleveland, & Utah come to mind 1st but I couldn't think of an exact deal so I needed help on that end.

Also I know Westbrook has high value but as stated, he's about to get paid so at least the Thunder get a comparable PG in Holiday (rookie-scale) while also maybe being able to flip Turner + for even more assets.

Just a thought.

i think the more likely deal is iggy and #16 to OKC for harden, aldrich, and naterob. have a hard time believing, even after all of the ball hogging, that OKC gives up on RWest so fast.

i think the better deal to make is iggy and #16 to OKC for harden, aldrich, and naterob.

OKC doesn't want Iggy either. He's a nice player for what it's worth but we really need spacing from our 2 spot.

I'm the biggest fan of Jrue there is, but Philly would have to consider this deal. Selfishly, I'd prefer to keep either ET or Jrue, but to get an all NBA player and a young big man would be pretty nice. Jrue would be a perfect fit on OKC with Harden and Durant as the primary scorers. This would actually be a very nice deal for both teams.

There's just no way okc does quality for quantity. Makes no sense.

so Russell Westbrook can become the "Derrick Rose of The East" was my attempt to add some humor to the thread.

Yes I honestly do believe Jrue Holiday is the better PG between him and Westbrook.

He's a much better facilitator and runs an offense better than Westbrook.

Westbrook is the better player between the two.
