Bargnani for Thabeet+TWill+#23?

Rockets get a guy that can score/create his own offense and give them some size in Bargnani. Raps get a late pick to take a project, and take fliers on Thabeet (24 now, but maybe he can still turn it around and become an ok backup C) and TWill (almost 24 now, hasn't shown much but has some talent)--not the best package for Bargs, but some somewhat young guys to fill out the roster as they rebuild.

Lowry/Dragic
Martin/Lee
Budinger
Scola/Patterson
Bargnani/Hayes/Miller

+#14-(Leonard/Hamilton/Thompson/Harris/Singleton?)

Bayless/Jose
DeRozan/Barbosa
J.Johnson/TWill
Davis/Kleiza
Amir/Thabeet/Alabi

+#5-(Kanter/Biyombo/Valanciunas/Knight/Walker?)
+#23-(Bertans/Nogueira/Selby/Tyler/CoJo?)

I like it, but as a Raptors fan, I'd be a bit more interested in Lee than TWill, the Raps desperately need some shooting at the wing spot.

The Rockets have no interest whatsoever in Bargnani.

Overpaid & doesn't fit a need.

I get that u dont like Bargnani...... but for Thabeet?

RAPS have a Thabeet clone already, his name ios Solomon Alabi and his salary is $600K, as compared to Thabeet at multi-millions per season.

Bargnani may not be ur fav, but he has value on the market.... Thabeet is a joke

Does he really though? I understand that he has value to the Raptors, but in order for that value to translate into market value there has to be a buyer as well and it seems like most teams (well, at least most teams' fans here on RGM) aren't really interested in acquiring him.

He's clearly talented but his inability to rebound or play defense at even an adequate level for a PF (not to mention a C) makes him incredibly hard to build around. You need a big man (preferably a C) who is a strong defender and rebounder plus a SF who can provide help side D and also bring above average rebounding to the table.

Really the only situation I can think of that fits the bill is Atlanta, and they probably wouldn't offer much more then Marvin and a future pick for him since they need to keep Horford/Smith for Bargs to be effective and JJ makes way way too much money.

Actually andrea is a solid or better man defender, he just is a terrible help defender. As a PF he'd be a good bit better but he'd still be the same turrible rebounder. But then 20+ ppg shooting 7 footers dont grow on tree's. As for RGM fans, we all remember hedo was un movable and what it was going to take to deal him. But in the end it didnt take any portion of what was thought and he was delt twice. Same with the almost jose deal in the off season.

Really bad for both teams, I mean why does Houston want to pair Bargnani with Scola? or Hill? Makes zero sense to me, I mean Thabeet maybe a bust and all but I think they want to see at least if he could do anything before trading him off.

If Toronto really wants to rebuild and get rid of Bargnani then this is a as good as we are going to get, a good young bench wing player a prospect in Thabeet and a pick is what I feel the market is for Bargnani. We would need a 5 here in the worst way, I mean Amir, Thabeet and Alabi would be a disaster.

The deal is essentially an expiring contract (Thabeet),a young player who hasn't gotten playing time (williams) and a draft pick that is probably going to be a project for Bargnani.

Houston gets good value for Bargnani, but pairing him with Scola is a disaster on defense. They also need to give time for Patrick Patterson, and probably a resigned Chuck Hayes.

Toronto should be able to do better for Andrea Bargnani. Thabeet won't be in the league once his rookie deal expires. I do like Terrence Williams (exactly the type of player the Raptors should take a chance on, even though he's old for a 2nd year player) , but I'm hesitant because of his past conflicts on the Nets.

I still think the Raptors are better off moving Amir Johnson instead or just keeping Bargnani and pairing him with a legitimate center since his trade value is low.

Honestly posting Bargnani trades is just a waste of time. In fact posting most trades on this board is a waste of time.

Bargnani has value, but when you post on this board you're going to hear the same old stuff, he can't rebound, he's weak help defender blah blah blah. People are always fixated on what a player is incapable of doing as opposed to what they excel at. There are about a half dozen teams where he'd fit real well and may even excel if placed in that position. Success in this league is circumstantial, meaning the opportunity you're given to succeed plays a larger role ultimately in your success than any other factor.

The ideal role for Bargnani is your first big off the bench or (6th man/3rd option on offense), where he can play 30 minutes a game at both the 4/5 spots. Put him next to a player that dominates the paint, in a system that optimizes his strengths/hides his deficiencies and you'll have a huge asset. Memphis, San Antonio, Atlanta, Chicago, Orlando, Milwaukee are a few teams where he would fit nicely in my opinion.

Also everyone on this board talks about his contract like it's some kind of albatross. 7 ft players get 7 figure deals. This is usually the case. Bargnani's deal might make him slightly overpaid by 2 or 3 mil a year, but that's the norm in the NBA. Name me a starting caliber big who isn't slightly overpaid. Last years free agent big men all come to mind (Bosh, Boozer, Amare, Lee are all over paid). If a hard cap is implemented and contracts are rolled back, then he will be making exactly what he should.

Stop posting Bargnani trades. It's a waste. He has value despite the legions of people here who disagree.

I think you need to make that the #14 pick if you even want the Raps to consider it. Even then, I'm thinking probably no.

I think this trade works for both teams. Houston gets an upgrade in talent, at least offensively with Bargnani. Plus they get to trade pieces that they may not really want in Thabeet and Terrence Williams. Raptors get a fresh start too, handing the keys over to Demar, Ed, and their new draft pick. I look forward to seeing T-Will and Demar as the 2-3. Thabeet won't be worst off than any of the other Cs the Raps have had recently... which is kind of safe. In the end, EVERYONE gets a fresh start :)

Tell me about it. It's annoying to say the least. Everyone wants an asset for 10 cents on the dollar, although the original trade posted here isn't horrible, it isn't worth thinking about either. Thabeet is not an asset, the guy was playing in the D-league last year, 2 years after being picked 2nd overall. Doesn't exactly instill confidence that he'll ever become anything. The pick is a glorified second rounder. Again it's pretty much worthless.

The Raptors would like to trade him for shorter contracts and a future pick in 2012. This is a fair price if you have a team that will or should make the playoffs next year. Otherwise we'll just hold on to him, his value will only increase as his contract get shorter.

I like Bargnani and think that he gets unfairly bashed here too often.

I hate him on the Rockets.

So, in our starting lineup we'd have Bargs, Luis Scola and Kevin Martin...DEFENSIVE JUGGERNAUT!!!

Houston's problem isn't scoring and Bargs would be a bad fit here. He needs to be somewhere that has a defensive minded center (like Okafor) to let his game be maximized to it's full potential. He'd be a disaster in Houston, and we'd be better off seeing if the kids we send out can do anything under our new coaching staff.

(Bear in mind, I'm one of those Houston fans who thinks that McHale was hired specifically because he was open to playing Thabeet & Williams)

Not a good fit in Houston, however you spell it.
