NBC Sports: Bulls looking to deal Deng OR Noah?

The newest one is a doozy. The New York Daily News reports the Bulls are seeking a trade for Luol Deng or Joakim Noah in exchange for a lottery pick and a trade exception. Yeah. A trade exception.

no team with a lottery pick has enough cap-space to absorb the salary of either Deng or Noah until July

Sacramento is the only team that could com close right now. But they'd almost certainly want the Bulls to take back one of their unwanted salaries

Really?
I doubt kings would do a straight swap, though noah would fit nicely there, specialy in non basketball sense. They need someone like him.

If the Kings add in a minor asset or two, I could definitely see this being plausible (if the rumor IS true).
In fact, I could see the Kings adding in Thornton, Fredette and a future pick or somehow Jason Thompson to try and pry both Deng AND Noah. It would be worth a shot if they feel Thomas can man the point full time long term. Pick up a veteran back up for him (Miller, Felton, Billups) and the team could be quite competitive with a real coach.

Thomas/Billups
Evans/Garcia
Deng/Salmons
Cousins/Hayes
Noah/Cousins

The Bulls would probably need to see if Drummond remains on the board, and if he is there, could probably consider this (but not a straight 5 for Noah, IMO). If they get Thompson in the deal, it would be worth it for sure but I don't know if that's even possible. It would allow them to amnesty Boozer next season once Rose is back at full health and have Drummond/Taj/Thompson as their bigs with an upgraded back court.

(Watson)Rose/Jimmer
Thornton/Rip
Brewer/Korver
(Boozer)Taj/Thompson
Asik/Drummond

with rose out for most of the season the Bulls are in full tank mode...... "Smart" why not give up Deng and/or Noah for draft picks get good prospects and give them plenty of playing time in the 2012/2013 season while sucking and getting a high 1st round pick in 2013. think about it bull fans. Deng to Sacto for the 5 pick ( take Beal, Drummond, Barnes, MKG) in that order
Noah to Toronto for the 8 pick ( if you don't get Beal take Waiters. if you get Beal get Perry Jones, Harkless, Terrence Jones) in that order. yes I said Perry Jones this would be a tank year...... swing for the fences.
then with the 29th pick take Fab Melo or Ezeli if you don't get Drummond. if you get Drummond take Quincy Miller or Draynmond Green
this line-up should land you a lotto next draft but has crazy up-side

Watson
Beal
P. Jones
Gibson
Melo
or
Watson
Waiters
Draynmond Green
Gibson
Drummond

OKC 2.0 in a year are two. OKC 3.0 once Rose is fully healthy

Min sends D. Williams, B. Miller(cap),M. Webster(cap) and Memphis 1st next year..(15.8 sal... 10.8 can expire) for Deng 13.3...

Draft next year makes sense for both team. MN needs one more rook now, Chi get two first next year (another strong class) When they look to win again....

Kings would send back at least 1 contract, probably Outlaw in the process.

Kings don't want Deng AND Noah.

#5 and cap space(outlaw/Garcia) for Noah seems more than reasonable.

All they have to do is agree before hand and the lottery team can draft for the Bulls. Again, this happens all the time. The Hornets for instance could easily draft for the Bulls at #10, and then trade that player's rights for Noah and absorb his entire deal after July 1st.

And as a Hornets fan, I would gladly trade #10 for Noah and his deal. But I think it's Deng they really want to deal, and I don't think the Hornets would have much interest there(as good as he is when healthy).

I think it makes a lot more sense if you flip their destinations. Noah is more valuable then Deng and should get a higher pick in return. The Raptors also probably don't need Noah since they have Valanciunas coming over who they're very excited about.

Noah for #5 and Deng for #8 makes a lot of sense if Chicago is going to pull a San Antonio (tank for a year in the middle of contending when their star player is down) and try to add some youth to their squad. Draft Drummond at #5, Lamb at #8, and a backup PG (Wroten, Teague, Tyler in that order) at #29.

Yeah, they definitely need to be switched. Considering his injury, I feel like 8 is high for Deng and 5 may even be too low for Noah. If Sac has a 2nd rounder (I didn't check), send it to Tor?

Or if Sac wants a sf more then Noah, you could try and get Philly on board with taking Noah and sending out Iguodala +15?

If Chicago wants more assets on top of #5 and cap space then there is no way they are moving Noah. Can't see anyone offering more than that.

I think #5 + Chuck Hayes makes sense.

Chuck would be a fantastic fit as a bench big for the Bulls in Thibs system for either position. one of the premier post defenders, fantastic passer, good rebounder on a reasonable contract - on a winning contending team(What the bulls hope to return to once Rose is fit) he'd really excel.

Kings could also throw in their 2nd rounder considering his down year due to the injuries.

If the Bulls are after draft picks for Noah and/or Deng, it only makes sense if they're turning them into Dwight Howard. That there's been so much talk about it, is starting to make me think that's exactly what they're doing.

Or... getting draft picks and salary cap flexibility. Having Rose heal. And then next summer, amnestying Boozer, and signing the free agent Dwight to go with Rose and 3 high draft picks? It sounds like a pipe dream, but Howard has changed his opinion a lot. And it would make as much sense to hold out free agent hope as it would to trade for him without an extension.

There's no way Adidas let's their 2 marquee endorsers play in the same market. I'd be shocked if that happened. Welcome to the NBA in 2012.
