Shengelia is a SF and really we don't have a back-up C.. it will be PF by committee as a back-up to Lopez for now.

Will be interesting to see who the Magic cut to sign a PG. Eyenga would seem like the obvious choice, even though his contract is guaranteed for this year.
Maybe they can work out a trade.

I would think McBob as well.

Devilanche wrote:Oklahoma City Thunder: 15 under contract

PG: Russell Westbrook , Eric Maynor , Reggie Jackson
SG: Thabo Sefolosha , James Harden , Daequan Cook
SF: Kevin Durant , Perry Jones , Lazar Hayward, Hollie Thompson ( Undrafted)
PF: Serge Ibaka , Nick Collison
C: Kendrick Perkins , Cole Aldrich, Thabeet

Needs: Low post scorer, rebounding. Really need to play 3rd year Cole Aldrich. Could probably use a 3 point shooter that can get into rotation rather than a 5mins spell here and there. Won't be active in free agency and even if we did, it's a 1 year contract offer.

Presti Solution: Take a flier on Thabeet, sign a good 3 point shooter(Hollie Thompson) from collage with height to potentially replace cook's role. At 6'8", hope he can play like Novak of regular season vintage.

Upcoming Trade: Can only see cook having some value.

Adding my two cents...
- Main need is further experience for both players and coaching staff. As crazy as that sounds, most of the players are just recently old enough to buy beer. The transition to hard minded, determined to win a championship, veteran is difficult. And Brooks, as much as he's already improved, still has a ways to go before he is seriously considered one of the game's best coaches.
- Agree 100% that Aldrich needs a legit opportunity.
- Thabeet? Well that will certainly be interesting.
- Also agree that Thompson kid can really shoot and Cook's job is in real jeopardy. Note that Cook is in the last year of his contract at $3M per.
- Dan Orton was recently signed but don't know why or anything about the offer.
- There's an interesting triangular future situation going on with Maynor, Sefolosha & Jackson. It's looking like resigning Maynor to what he's worth will be extremely expensive given their tax situation if Presti resigns Harden. And I would be stunned if that doesn't happen. It would be great if Jackson could replace Maynor as backup PG and Sefolosha as wing defender, however, that's a real tall order. But next year Jackson's only making $1.3M while Maynor and Sefolosha are likely to be around $8M combined. After adding the tax, that's real money. So I'm watching to see if Jackson gets minutes in the rotation and at what position.
- PJ3 is the wild card. From what I can tell the kid is seriously talented. I can't wait to see him, Durant and Ibaka on the floor together. At #28 he may wind up being the steal of the draft.
- I'm not sure what value Lazar Hayward contributes to the team other than cheap rookie contract.
2013 notSonics
Starters - Jackson, Sefolosha, Durant, Ibaka, Perkins
Rotation - Fisher, Martin, Collison, Thabeet
Bench - Brewer, Liggins, Lamb, Jones, Orton
Injured - Westbrook
Draft - 12, 29, 32

I wish Westbrook's knee didn't get messed up.

I think SA goes like this starting the season :

PG - Tony Parker / Gary Neal / Patty Mills / Cory Joseph
SG - Danny Green / Manu Ginobili / Nando De Colo
SF - Kawhi Leonard / Stephen Jackson
PF - Boris Diaw / Dejuan Blair / Matt Bonner
C - Tim Duncan / Tiago Splitter

A few things to add :

I prefer Neal playing the 2, but he is too good to be a 3rd string SG. If SA doesn't trade him, I expect him to be the backup PG with Manu leading the 2nd unit setting plays.
Mills will probably fight with Neal for minutes to be the backup PG. He may take Neal's job by mid-season, but i don't think Mills starts the season as the backup PG.

Some Spurs fans think De Colo will play a lot of minutes from day 1, but i don't think it's gonna be the case. Not this season. And i see him more like a SG with very good passing skills than a PG.

SA is shipping Blair and they're still trying to add another BIG. If SA doesn't trade Blair, i think he will take Bonner's spot as the main backup PF. Pop completely shut down Bonner in the OKC series (3 minutes in the last 3 games against OKC) and i think he finally realized that Bonner is fool's gold. He will get minutes and he is still useful in some situations when SA needs a BIG stretching the floor, but other than that, he is the 5th big in the rotation.

That's what I expect in the beginning of the season. If SA brings another BIG, things may change a bit.
Shaq on Duncan:SA won because of TD, a guy I could never break.I could talk trash to Ewing, get in D-Rob's face, get a rise out of Mourning, but when I went at Tim he’d look at me like he was bored and say:“Hey,Shaq, watch this shot right off the glass.â€

I think Harrison Barnes will start at SF, with Draymond Green and Jefferson on the backup... Brandon Rush is a backup SG to Klay Thompson.
