King of the Trade Board III -- Winner Trader_Joe

Post#1 » by HartfordWhalers » Sat Nov 10, 2012 4:52 pm

First and foremost, thanks Dockingsched for creating this, and running the past two versions!

And with that said, it is time to begin again. So from now until the midnight EST December 14th we will be holding a contest to see which poster can create the most well received trades on the trade board. The winner will be crowned King of the Trade Board III.

Here is a link to our last KOTB, a little over 1 year ago:
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1119236

And the first KOTB 3 and a half years ago:
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=861721

The Details:

Who can join? Anyone can join at any time.

How do I join? When you think you have a trade that is fair for all parties and worthwhile, simply follow these steps:
1. Create a new thread in the trade board with the following title "KOTB ENTRY: (teams involved)" (i.e. KOTB ENTRY: lakers/magic/raptors)

2. Type in your trade with all players/picks involved, and justify your trade as you see fit. Provide trade checker id and/or salaries involved to verify that it works.

3. Before submitting your topic, make sure to include the following directions at the top of your post "If you believe all teams would accept this trade, vote yes. If you believe otherwise, vote no. Please explain your vote."

4. Once you have done that and created the topic, post a link to that thread in this thread so we can keep track of all entries.[/size]

How do I win? At the end of December 14th, the poster with the most points wins the competition. Standings will be kept in this thread and updated as often as needed. In case of a tie, the poster with the least amount of official entries will win (i.e. two posters tied with 11 points, poster with 15 entries beats poster with 18 entries).

How do I earn points? Your official entry will receive a point if you receive 5 yes votes before receiving 5 no votes. Only votes that are explained will be accepted.

When will I know if I earned a point? After you link your entry in this thread, a moderator will periodically check to see if you have received 5 yes or 5 no votes. Once you have, your post in this thread will be edited with the result in the bottom and the standings will be updated to reflect the result. If there is no result edited into your post, your entry has not been given a result. if you do not receive 5 yes or no votes within 48 hrs, your entry will be given a result of 0 points earned. Do not edit your own post with the result.

Which trades are acceptable? Any trade that works under the CBA and has not already received a point is acceptable. Slight modifications to trades that have already received a vote will not be accepted.

How do i vote? If you are voting on entries from other users...please consider all the assets being exchanged and the direction the teams are taking. If you believe the trade would be accepted by all teams, create a post stating that you think its a good trade and explain why. If you believe any of the team would NOT accept the trade, say that you do NOT think its a good trade and explain why. An explanation should be at least 1 complete sentence.

Can I change my trade while its still being voted on? no, you may not edit a trade once its been entered in the competition. if you believe that a slightly different entry would be better, you must create an entirely different entry. an edited entry will automatically receive a 0.

Feel free to ask any questions or make any suggestions in this thread. Also refer to the previous KOTB thread to help you understand how this contest works.

Nope. Feel free to do as many as you want. In case of a tie, the person with the least amount of entries wins. But first and foremost the standings go by the most accepted trades, and you can't win if you don't enter.

here's my first one!

EDIT: this will be a failure as no one realized Andre Deng (misnomered purposely) was valued so highly. or maybe i shouldn't have added the CHA pick? CHI fans LOVE that CHA pick even though they they don't get it for like another 10 years. (Hyperbole, yes)

H_F, should we be look at these trade as, if I were the GMs would I do this trade, or would the actual GMs do these trades? I know it's a minor point, but for example a NY/BK trade in real life would be a no.

Also, do you think once a thread reaches 5 yes's or no's, we should indicate it in the title? Not sure if it's worth the effort, but I've noticed myself counting to see if I should vote/add more input or move on to another one.

In terms of the actual teams. So, I think its reasonable to say something like "no way NYK does this, as dumping Amare to the Nets would be too brutal in town." That said, hopefully people aren't saying "no way team X does this, because they are dumb."

I don't mind seeing a few extra votes. I think where a title change might make more sense is somewhere when a trade is lingering at 2 yes and 2 no with no new votes.
