KOTB:Boston/OKC- Swapping Elite PGs

Post#1 » by kdawg32086 » Mon Nov 19, 2012 7:57 pm

Thunder Receive: Rajon Rondo, Fab Melo, Kris Joseph (12.72m in salary)

Celtics Receive: Russell Westbrook (13.6m in salary)

Why for the Thunder?: The Oklahoma City Thunder have come up short in their quest for an NBA championship over the past two seasons. At times, point guard Russell Westbrook has been criticized for a failure to distribute the ball to franchise player Kevin Durant in the playoffs during crunch time. By adding an elite pass-first point guard in Rajon Rondo, the Thunder ensure that its franchise superstar will have no problems receiving the ball during the most critical moments of big games. Rondo's passing ability also figures to enhance the offensive production of many of the team's role players. The Thunder also acquire a young center, to develop as a potential replacement for Kendrick Perkins in the future and a young wing player to potentially fill in as a role player in the future.

Why for the Celtics?: With Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett nearing the end of their careers, the Celtics will soon be in need of a legitimate number 1 scoring option to build the franchise around. Although Rondo ranks among the top point guards in the league, he does not possess the scoring ability of a #1 scoring option. By adding Westbrook, the Celtics add a young, proven scorer to be their #1 option going forward and to give them a 3rd scoring threat in their current pursuit of another NBA championship. Westbrook also gets the chance to prove himself as the face of a franchise, an opportunity which would not be afforded to him playing alongside perennial MVP Kevin Durant.

If you believe all teams would accept this trade, vote yes. If you believe otherwise, vote no. Please explain your vote.

ACtually at crunch time Westbrook took almost no shots and Harden and Durant were taking all the shots.

I think this is a deal that neither team makes because both guys are so essential to everything that they do.

KOTB: no because these types of deal just dont happen.

No from Boston.
Rondo is on a better deal and is better for this team.

No from Oklahoma City. The Thunder's offense in the starting lineup with Rondo/Thabo/Durant/Ibaka/Perkins would just be abominably bad.

Neither team would be the same with the other player. Both decline even though I think Rondo is a bit better than Westbrook.

Westbrook's better and younger. Melo and Joesph are worth close to nothing.

Would OKC start Rondo/Thabo/Durant/Ibaka/Perk? Would that be the worst shooting starting line-up in the league?
