Nash and Gasol for Rondo and Green

Postby GhostX on Tue Jan 22, 2013 12:56 am

Both Gasol and Rondo are on shaky ground in their respective teams and could use a change of scenery. The Nash for Green swap makes up for the deficite.

Nash
Bradley
Pierce
Garnett
Gasol

6th man : Terry, Bass, Lee, Barbosa

Rondo
Kobe
Artest
Green
Howard

6th man: JHill, Jamison, Meeks, Blake

LOL. Do you think any team is going to take on $37M in salary (after this year) for a couple of old farts like Nash and Gasol?

Horrible for Boston. Their average age would be like 35. They would be nothing in a few years.
Rondo is their best player and is worth more then Gasol and Nash together IMO.

The idea in itself is not that bad, because the Celtics could use some better overall playmaking and a better center, BUT the Celtics can't take on more than $2.7m additionally due to being lock into a hard cap at APRON.

A possibility would be:

Lakers out: Gasol, Nash, Meeks, Clark
Lakers in: Rondo, Green, Bass, Lee

Celtics out: Rondo, Green, Bass, Lee
Celtics in: Gasol, Nash, Meeks, Clark

Celtics:

Gasol/Collins
Garnett/Sullinger/Wilcox
Pierce/Clark
Bradley/Meeks/Barbosa
Nash/Terry

Lakers:

Howard/Sacre
Green/Bass/Jamison
Artest/Ebanks
Bryant/Lee
Rondo/Morris/Duhon

Counteroffer from the Celtics:

Green, Bass, Lee/Terry for Howard.

Boston gets the defensive big man they need.

Lakers upgrade their bench and move Pau to the center spot where he belongs. Green and Lee/Terry are athletic enough for the MDA system and can hit the open shot. Bass provides a good pick'n'pop option and stretches the floor.

Boston would not trade Rondo to the Lakers.

Yeah id do that. Boston gets a center to lighten the load on KG and a PG that can actually spread the floor.

It seems Howard with some sort of reassurance he will stay in Boston would have to be in a rondo trade.

Rondo, Green, Terry, Bass, 2 #1
for
Howard, Nash, Morris, Ebanks

Yeah...how obvious is it that the last thing the Celtics need..is to get older and more costly???

This. But why would Howard go from one old team to an other and sign an extension? As a Boston fan, i'd do that trade if he signs an extension, but it's highly unlikely he would like Boston more then LA.

Boston is at least a playoff team with no where near the drama or egos in the team..especially with Rondo gone.
