Is CLE tanking? 'Cuz, if they're not...

Lakers send Gasol for Tristan Thompson and Luke Walton.

Cavs become a playoff-caliber team, sell tickets and still have the money available when LBJ enters free agency.

Lakers get a good young player with the talent to become a star. Better yet, he fits in well with the Lakers AND his contract won't get in the way of signing major FAs.

Terrible for the Cavs, obviously. No need for them to bail the Lakers out of Gasol's salary and also give up a young prospect in the process.

Almost nothing would make the Cavs make the playoffs this year so this would just be the Cavs doing the Lakers an enormous favor for nothing. Makes no sense.

So, you guys think Gasol is finished, right?

Because, healthy, he's much, much better than Thompson and allows Varejao to go back to PF. Even if you don't make the playoffs this year, the deal would make you a contender in the East. Hit on some of those 1sts you're stockpiling and you're a really strong team.

And TT continues to get underrated.

Year removed fourth overall pick, putting up 15/12 on 53% FG in last ten.

So Gasol is the difference between a horrible team (sorry Cle fans, but it's currently true), that is currently 3rd from last in the east and a contending team in the east?

If Gasol is that good, don't you think with the help of a top 3 SG and a top 1 C...the Lakers would make the playoffs?

I don't think he's finished, just a completely silly fit for the Cavs.

Not to mention that Thompson is a poor fit next to Dwight. LA's defense would be solid, but the floor spacing would be terrible.
Well at least we're not Detroit!

How about Gasol for Smith? Allows Horford to go back to PF. You could be a contender with the big three of Gasol, Horford, and Korver. Hit on that Rockets 1st and you're a really strong team.

Gasol kills our cap space, which is enough for 2 max FAs or a gentleman's agreement of 3 like MIA has (We're dreaming of Howard, Smith and Chris Paul making that kind of deal - I know, but hey! gotta try.)

You have enough cap space for one max FA but you're building your team on draft picks. Gasol is about as good as any FA you're looking to sign this offseason. He'd reduce your cap space to about $11 million (not enough for a max, I know) for this year and you'd have Gasol's contract gone the year LBJ returns.

Unless you're planning to tank for the next 2 years, I don't see the mistake on my part; that is, unless you're convinced Gasol is finished.

How about Varejao and filler for Gasol?

The original deal is laughable.

This.
TT is a beast. He has serious defensive potential and his offense is better than expected. He may not be as sexy as Favors or Jonas V or other young bigs but he's legit.

Counter offer should be AV, Walton, Gibson, LA #1 for Gasol, Morris, Ebanks

Zeller and Filler for Gasol? Seems a little more fair

You're stretching.

His draft position means absolutely nothing. Most people agree that he was drafted too high, but there wasn't a lot of value available at the time. And he's averaging decent numbers, ironically, when Varejao is out.

He's "rated" about right where he should be.

Tell that to the GB. Most of them don't even know he is playing well. Orangeparka has defended TT a few times so I don't really get what you are trying to tell him.

If the Cavs required assets from Memphis to take on Salary, they are not going to turn around and do a favor for LA to take on Gasol's contract.
