Serious talks on Boston-Houston package for Asik have included Brandon Bass, Courtney Lee and a 1st round pick, sources tell Yahoo.

If such a package were to come together, it is unclear if Lee would go to Rockets or be routed to a third team.

I wouldn't act like its some great steal.

Brandon Bass has been playing terrific this season and Lee is shooting the lights out and then Morey gets his 1st round pick he wanted.

I think its a fair deal and a win/win.

I like this for both teams. The one confusing thing about this is that I was under the impression that one of Houston's requirements was to get a backup center back. Bass is not that. Lee is a nice bench piece for Houston because they need a little bit more athleticism on the wings, but I cant help but think Lee would go to the Cavs for Varejao or Zeller.

Doesn't that depend on the 1st round pick? Like what pick would you give and still be happy?

I'd prefer the LAC 2015 first.

Could be the worse of Brooklyn/Atlanta pick in 2014.

Or a future Brooklyn pick.

Danny has 9 first round picks over the next 5 years I believe so there's options.

Likely Lee + the pick to a third team, Rockets won't take salary past next year.

Hawes makes sense, but might not be enough for Philly.

To Boston:
Asik

To Philly:
Lee
First round pick from Boston.

To Houston:
Bass
Hawes

Sure there's options. Yes, if they get the deal done with the LAC pick, Boston should be happy. But is Houston going for that?
I would expect, that Houston wants the 2016 Brooklyn pick. (Or whatever you think is the most valuable of their picks) Not sure how much i would like that for Boston.
Lots of room for negotiation with so many picks and I'm not sure they can find one, that both sides like.

I don't really get it for the Celtics. I thought they'd rather be worse than get better, but it's not a bad deal for them by any means. I think Bass, Lee and a pick is pretty fair compensation for Asik. Far more reasonable the some of the rumors and fan demands we've been hearing over the past few months.

Asik is great fit in Boston. Now Ainge should trade Hump, Crawford, pick for Afflalo and Davis.

What's not to get? We haven't had a legitimate starting caliber center in 3 years. Plus we get out of Lee's long term contract.

The Celtics aren't tanking and haven't been this entire year. We've been hovering around .500 this season without a point guard and without a legit starting caliber center. Rondo will be back next month and if we can trade for Asik, we get a 7 footer that's a double-double threat and can protect the paint.

Hawes makes sense, but might not be enough for Philly.

To Boston:
Asik

Lee
First round pick from Boston.

To Houston:
Bass
Hawes

I wonder if the Nuggets could get into it putting Andre Miller in there for Lee, Miller is only partially guaranteed and would help with the Rockets PG problems.

Rondo - Crawford - Pressey
Bradley - Brooks - Bogans
Green - Wallace
Sullinger - Olynyk - Humphries
Asik - Faverani
+ 8 picks over 5 years (assuming 1 is traded).
+ TPE and Bogans/Humphries expiring.

Id say Boston would be doing ok to be honest. Thats a playoff roster with a young coach and a boatload of assets going froward. Rebuilding whilst remaining competitive.

I think you're right. Lee is playing well now, but he's been inconsistent and his deal runs a frustrating three years. I suspect he's being routed elsewhere.

Barea's inconsistent too, but he's only on a two year deal. Meanwhile, the wolves gave several players three years in free agency, they are win now, and Lee knows Adelman's system and could help right away.

Wow. Is it me or is this horrible value? Rockets fans had a "no trade" stance when Dwight was signed in regards to Asik. One wonders what they could have really received if they would have just traded him in the summer

Lee and Bass are both really good fits in Houston and round out the roster pretty well.

Depends on how you rate Asik, he is a very good defender, but a liability on offense, and is getting paid $15 million next year. Add in the bad attitude, and I do not know why people were expecting a fortune for him. Depending on the pick 2 rotation guys and a mid 1st round pick is not bad value.
