NY/Philly/Mil

Post#1 » by Jace_5 » Sun Jul 27, 2014 6:28 pm

Knicks Receive: Jason Richardson and Chris Wright

76ers Receive: OJ Mayo and Future 2nd from Milwaukee

Bucks Receive: JR Smith

Why for Knicks: They get an expiring SG and a young player

Why for 76ers: Get a SG that can get out of milwaukee and return to form and a future 2nd round pick

Why for Bucks: they move on from Mayo because it didnt really work for either side.

What no part of JR Smith....The ball will never be in Giannis or Parker's hands

No from the Sixers, going to take more than a second rounder to take on OJ Mayo and his $8m next season.

The Knicks aren't bringing anything worthwhile to the table here.

Bucks cut the Knicks out.

Sixers decline.

Bucks would never take JR Smith.

This is awful for Philly and Milwaukee. What incentive is NY putting up to dump JR?

This is bad for every team. Contrary to popular belief, JR is not worth just dumping for nothing. And any team that'd want to trade for him, would want to plug him into an already good team that needs help scoring... any lottery team that trades for him is probably making a bad mistake.

I don't understand why the OP is so hung up on sending OJ Mayo to Philly.

lol at trading Mayo for Smith because Mayo didn't work out.

Mayo would probably average 30 points a game on the 76ers, though he'd probably average more shot attempts as the default first, second, and third options at the same time.

JR contract is only guaranteed for 2.6 Million, next year. Phil Jackson will give him the chance to build up some trade value or just cut him for 2.6 million next year. Heck JR can even opt out? If he bounces back strong. Some forum members are acting like he can not play in the NBA at a high level. The only problem with JR is he can be at times a locker room cancer. But that is a HUGE problem in today NBA, so I do not blame fans for not wanting him on there team.

Once again, that is incorrect. See my post in the other thread or show me evidence otherwise.

he would have been cut by now if he wasn't guaranteed over $12M

Smith is a headache, and that is why Phil Jackson would be very keen on moving him.

JR is 5.95 this year with a PO for 6.3 next year according to Spotrac. So yes, he could opt out, but I highly doubt he would have any suitors. Even the Spurs gave up on Steven Jackson, and JR is arguably worse. So I don't see him opting out. Dude is a nightmare even at a reasonable salary. Minimum of two assets to dump him. Basically NY is stuck with him.

Look at the deals that got passed out to players less accomplished than Jr Smith. You're going to tell me he can't fool another team into giving him a decent deal if he behaves himself this season??

I think Phil is looking to move him because we have a lot of depth at the 2 and glaring weaknesses in our front court.

Unless you're counting someone using a mini MLE or BAE or even a vet min deal as decent... couldn't disagree more.

Facts don't care whether you agree with them or not and the facts don't support the argument that J.R Smith would get offered that kind of chump change after a big year.
