Post#1 » by Laimbeer » Wed Aug 27, 2014 2:18 am

MIN: Budinger, Barea for Thompson, Bynum, SAC 2nd
Get fourth big, ease logjam at the three, change of scenery at backup point

DET: Smith, Bynum for Budinger, Barea, Williams
Shooters for SVG

SAC: Thompson, Williams, 2nd for Smith
Get long sought target while meeting criteria of moving Thompson or Landry

Why does Minny need overpaid thompson when they already got Young/Bennett/Pek/Dieng/Turiaf? Easy no, Barea expires next year and Budinger the year after that with manageable salary.

Thompson and Budinger each have two years, Barea and Bynum are expirings. And isn't Young a three?

Young is going to start at PF and Thompson has 3 years worth about 20 mil while Budinger has 2 years of 10 mil.

Yeah, I think TBB got it right. Wolves decline.

Wolves also signed Mo Williams as backup PG, so we don't need anyone there.

How is Young a 3?

The last 3 years he has played over 96% of his minutes at PF and for his career he has played 85% of his minutes at the 4 spot.

Budinger has a Player option next year worth 5 Million.

We also signed Mo Williams this off-season.

Thompson is guaranteed through 2016/2017. Where are you getting your information from? Because you need to find new sources, even Chris Broussard has more factual information than this.

I highly doubt Minnesota would eat Thompson's deal. His deal is partially guaranteed for 2.65 million in 2016/17, but they'd rather use the playing time to develop Bennett and see what he has while having Young as a valuable mentor.

If Detroit wants to dump Smith, they have to eat Thompson or Landry's deal with some expiring deals and maybe a second going to Detroit.

Why don't you just cut MIN out? Neither of the guys we get back make sense for us.

Minnesota wouldn't want Thompson's deal. We already are going to be giving minutes to Pek/Dieng/Bennett/Thad. No reason to pay Thompson over $6m for 3 years to be a 3rd big(or Bennett).

Budinger will almost certainly exercise his option. Thompson is partially guaranteed for $2.65M in 2016/17 and will likely be bought out of that year. Should have said two years for all practical purposes.
