Of course, if Nash still counts on cap - and TE would be more - then LAL might try to get by cheap and cut someone later to get under lux cap number.

The Lakers aren't over the tax line. They are almost 5 under it.

Hoopshype has them at 74.5. Isnt tax line around 72?

1) Hoopshype is terrible.
2) The tax line is at $76.8M.
3) Hoopshype is terrible. They have Jeremy Lin shown at his ~$15M cash payout instead of his ~$8M cap figure.

Hoopshype is not correctly showing Lin's contract. Though he is making 14.9 million, his cap hold is only at 8.63

So - Barea would fit in under tax line and TE.

The debate between Barea and Bynum is ridiculous either way, haha. The Lakers will just wait due to all teams having to make the rosters down to fifteen. They have no reason to help teams out.

Could LAL even get a DPE from the league by Monday?

Doesn't a player need to be examined by league doctors first?

He hasn't been able to play in nearly two years. I don't understand how it's any different now. By midseason 2012-13, Nash was 100% toast.

Well, let's use the Paul George thing as a guide. PG13 was injured on August 1, the Pacers applied for the DPE on August 6, and the Pacers were awarded the DPE on August 13. Seems like a crazy quick turnaround, but still, essentially 2 weeks from beginning to end. Seems like a good comparison. So, expect a DPE named by the end of the first week of November, after the rosters are churned to 15.
