A Much Bigger CHA/BRK/OKC swap

Post#1 » by HornetJail » Mon Jan 26, 2015 3:38 am

CHA trades: Al Jefferson, Marvin Williams, Gerald Henderson, Gary Neal, Jeff Taylor, 2015 2nd, 2016 2nd
CHA receives: Joe Johnson, Jarrett Jack, Perry Jones III, Jeremy Lamb

BRK trades: Brook Lopez, Joe Johnson, Jarrett Jack
BRK receives: Al Jefferson, Kendrick Perkins, Gerald Henderson, Marvin Williams, Gary Neal, 2015 2nd, 2016 2nd

OKC trades: Kendrick Perkins, Jeremy Lamb, Perry Jones III
OKC receives: Brook Lopez, Jason Maxiell, Jeff Taylor

CHA gets some needed depth and a 2-guard scorer. Jefferson's run his course here in Charlotte, it's time to move on.
Biyombo/[FA center]/Maxiell
Zeller/Jones/Vonleh
MKG/Lamb/Hairston
Johnson/Stephenson
Walker[+?]/Jack/Brob

Brooklyn sheds a lot of future salary, and a significant amount of current salary. Jefferson and Henderson are possible/likely opt-out candidates. Only Marvin Williams is guaranteed to be on the books next year.
Jefferson/Plumlee/Perkins
Garnett/Williams/Teletovic[+]
Anderson/Karasev/Bogdan
Henderson/Neal/?
Williams/?

OKC trades for Brook Lopez. There was interest in a similar deal recently, so I assume they are still interested.
Lopez/Adams/McGary
Ibaka/Collison/Maxiell
Durant/Morrow/Taylor
Roberson/Waiters
Westbrook/Jackson/Smith

Brooklyn isn't trading Jack (and it pains me to say this as Cavs fan given what we had to trade to move him). They're aren't going to roll with D. Will as their only PG. Particularly when he's nursing bruised ribs. They're fighting for the 8th spot as well.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

Adding Maxiell and Taylor kills this for OKC. They can't add that much in lux tax for end of the bench guys. They are trying to lower their bill. It's one of the hangups to any Lopez deal. Still pretty hesitant to include PJ as well.

For BK, not sure they would rather have Al at the expense of prospects, but they might. They inclusion of Jack seems a bit greedy though. Don't know that Al has this kind of value.
