Kings/Hornets/Knicks
Ill offer this idea based on Kemba Walker injury, recent rumors on Kings putting Williams/Stauskas on block and finding Lance a new home.
To Sacramento (Deal Williams, Stauskas, Sessions)
-Andrea Bargnani (expiring)
-Shane Larkin (expiring)
-P.J Hairston (1 year, $1.2 million plus TO)
To Charlotte (Deal Stephenson, Hairston)
-Derrick Williams (expiring)
-Nick Stauskas (1 year, $2.9 million plus TO)
-Ramon Sessions (1 year, $2.1 million)
To New York (Deal Bargnani, Larkin)
-Lance Stephenson (1 year, $9 million plus TO)
Why?
-It gives the Kings a stretch 4 off bench in Bargnani who can help Kings space floor to a better degree. Larkin gives them a 3rd PG on an expiring contract and Hairston more athleticsm in backcourt. It saves them $3.8 million off cap this coming off-season.
-Charlotte gets a PG in Sessions who can play meaningful minutes while Walker is out to keep them in playoff contention and he is familiar with the team. Stauskas gives them a shooter at the 2. It allows them to cut $4 million off cap this off-season to provide greater flexibility to re-sign Jefferson/Biyombo/Henderson
-New York wipes out is remaining luxury tax bill of $4 million and acquires the local product who only carries 1 more year guaranteed

Gotta think SAC balks big time. This trade seems to be predicated on the idea that Bargnani has anything other than extremely negative value.

If NY takes on Lance (something I don't want to do), Calderon needs to be in the deal. Otherwise NY does not have a max slot.
But I really don't want Lance.

I disagree, Jose is still an elite 3 point shooter and a high IQ player - but I'd take Jose for $7.4 million next year over Lance at $9 million next year

I think most teams would be scared off by his $7.7 million cap hit in 2016-17 given his current rate of production and projecting what value he will have at that point in his mid 30s. Maybe Knicks are hoping someone will take him this off-season to play behind and mentor a starting rookie/2nd year PG.

Why would Sac want expiring salary and give up a prospect? Sessions is cheap too, although most of us want him gone.

That's a fair point, however not every team will have cap space in 2016 and some teams care about winning now, which Jose can help. Additionally that $7.7m hit can be stretch to a $2.6m hit, so it's not that risky.

Bargnani a stretch 4? Could have fooled me. He certainly takes a lot of 3 point shots but doesn't make anywhere near enough of them to be a threat other defenses worry about

NY fans still believe Bargs has any value around the league? I wouldn't even trade Landry or JT for him. He is terrible, lazy ans soft.
Adding Nik makes it laughable.

Re: Kings/Hornets/Knicks
Unless Lance is traded somewhere else this deadline, I think he'll be an option for the Knicks in the summer as a back up plan. Like if we miss out on our top FAs, we'll probably look into Lance and some 2nd round picks for a big TPE- which I think Charlotte would jump at. I wouldn't trade for him right now because I think for the same $, we can pursue a better fit at SG in free agency- even if it'd take longer contract.
I think the SGs in the free agency are incredible. Plus we already have two cheap, young SGs- so outside of SF, it's probably out least important position to fill... so we're not giving up capspace for it (which'll be used to fill another hole or two in the summer). Plus I think Lance would play well and hurt our lottery chances lol.

The all too common trade proposal where every team involved doesn't like it.

Not this Knick fan. I would be happy if we just bought him out.
