Knicks wouldn't do this ever...
I really like Smart, but they can get Mudiay or Winslow here. Just wouldn't make sense, plus Smart didn't show enough last season to be valued this high.

Love the new car/draft pick analogy.

That's terrific.

Knicks couldn't hang up the phone fast enough.

Boston would be dumb not to do this.

Many franchise players were picked 4th. They will get either Mudiay or Russell at 4. Smart is solid but Boston would roll the dice that Mudiay or Russell has a bigger upside.

Would be a coop if Boston pulled it off.

Marcus Smart plus number 16 pick for KNick's pick

The primary concern for the Knicks is to get a cheap defensive center. Triangle aside if the plan is to out Anthony at power forward there is no way in hell Monroe works next to that. Trade down for Stein it's as easy as that.

Orlando, Sacramento they're not drafting a center as they're already set there. So you could go down to pick number seven and be find, depending on who replaces you at 4.

Value is right, but I don't think either team would do it. in this years draft there is a big drop from 3 to 4 IMO. There is a decent chance that Smart turns out better than the 4th pick. From the knicks side it is risky as well. Maybe you get two good players for one player, but maybe 4th pick is a star. Like I said value is right but I don't think either team would do it.

If Celtics were to add 28 and take Calderon Knicks would definitely have to consider. The only thing is smart isn't a true point and while he's a really good defender he isn't a good creator and I think Muddiay has more upside. Also if this were to happen the typical Knicks fan would explode.

As an outsider, I like Mudiay more than Smart. I feel like the Knicks could get a better deal than that.

If the Celtics took Calderon, it's closer. But even if the top 3 are off the board, you are talking about trading WCS and I'm not sure the Knicks do that.

Yeah that old n used hustle is really gonna screw anthony davis come free agency.
Rember when LeBron was it?
But serious
The draft is sometimes the only chance those players are available ( duncan, kd)
Depreciation only occurs when a player underperforms relative to their draft spot
Is the 30% depreciation proveable like new car depreciation or is that cyber gibberish?

Tweener guards that shoot 37% tend not to become important players on good teams.

Context matters, Smart shot more three's than two's this rookie season. Also more then half of his two point shots came away from the rim. Shot selection matters and usually gets better with experience. That is something to keep in mind. Time will tell how good Smart can be on offense.

I think that's true, but I also think NY is giving up too much value here for a guy who, frankly, didn't look great during his rookie year (except at running around screens I mean).

I would think the Knicks would pass quickly.

The Smart love is one of the most confusing things I've seen in 10 years on this board. Definitely a plus defender, but just an abysmal offensive player. Same as college. In terms of translatable skills

What about 16 & Olynyk for 11?

If there is a guy Ainge likes who's not available @16 would be a good option for Boston.

I think he'd rather do #16 and #28, but if there is a guy like Turner or Oubre/Johnson or someone unexpected slides out of the top 10 then he'd be all over with either #28 or Olynyk (but preferably #28).
