McGee ahead of Zaza?...I put McGee behind him and Dalambert for now at least.

Hmm, that seems to be the "optimistic" version. Thrusting rookie Turner into the starting C spot seems unlikely to me, plus the Pacers seem dead serious about playing George at the 4. Also, Whittington is missing. Lavoy and Whit aren't officially signed yet, but both seem like a done deal.

My stab at the depth chart.

Indiana Pacers
George Hill / Joseph Young
Monta Ellis / Rodney Stuckey
Chase Budinger / CJ Miles / Solomon Hill
Paul George / Lavoy Allen / Whittington
Jordan Hill / Ian Mahinmi / Myles Turner

In order for this to happen Wintermute, the Pacers would essentially be playing small-ball the vast majority of each game. The way I see it, PG will get some run at the 4, but he will not play the majority of his minutes there. He even said so himself. Imagine PG banging 30 mpg on defense in the blocks, especially considering his perimeter D is top-top notch. He is not the same as DGreen or LJames in that he is not physically capable of grinding it out with strong PFs like they are night after night.

I like Trader Joe's version better, although I do think Mahimi will initially start over Turner. Any depth chart not projecting Turner in the top ten of the rotation is not accurate. I think right out of the gate he looks to be a solid rim protector with the added ability to pull his man away from the basket at the other end. I'm sure Vogel will teach him the funnel technique much like he did with Hibbert & Mahimi, but ultimately we'll need PG on the perimeter funneling.

I see Payne getting a lot of time and being before Bjelica, but maybe I'm being too optimistic haha

Payne started a decent amount last year, and I honestly expect Bjelica to receive consistent minutes from the bench and Payne being out of the rotation. BUT when Garnett doesn't play, Payne starts.

Nope, Bjelica is in front of Payne on the depth chart. Payne started as nobody was left who was healthy. Bjelica was the MVP of the Euro League, and is playing great over there right now. Payne is a bit of a space cadet and a project.

If Pek is healthy enough for the Center minutes, and it sounds like he is, Pek, KG, Towns, Dieng, Bjelica will get all of the minutes, KG will skip the back end of back to backs, with Bjelica and Towns at PF on those days, Pek and Dieng at C. Payne will get his minutes when Pek and KG both sit, no way he starts over Towns or Bjelica, or Dieng...

Still too early to know who is starting at either SG or center as Donovan, our new coach, hasn't said a word about it. It's likely this matter won't become more clear until training camp. Having said that, it's also likely both Adams and Kanter will get a lot of minutes at center... when the team plays with a traditional center. We've a lot of long, talented athletes who are capable of playing a number of positions. It's possible that a lineup with Ibaka at center and Durant at PF gets unleashed on a regular basis. Similary, if Waiters wins the starting job at SG, it's possible that Roberson gets some run at backup SF as well as backup SG. Bottom line is that the lineup is both deep and versatile. Donovan has so many options available to him that traditional depth charts may not come close to accurately reflecting the team's actual rotations.

A couple small adjustments

PG-Westbrook, Augustine, Payne
SG - Waiters Morrow, Roberson
SF - Durant, Singler, Heustis
PF - Ibaka, McGary, Novak Collison
C - Kanter Adams

With all the money we played Kanter I imagine he starts but they just about split minutes

If we play small ball I say our lineup would look like

Westbrook, Augustin, Payne

Roberson, Waiters

Morrow, Singler, Heustis

Durant, McGary, Novak, Collison

Ibaka, Kanter, Adams

I think Payne will get a lot of the backup minute just not sure how good he will be so I am putting him at 3rd string. Reason I start Roberson in small ball is to add a bit of defense in lineup.

I hope that Thunder trade Novak. His contract is way too big for a player of his quality.

FYI, from reading DT it seems pretty likely Roberson remains starter.

So:

Westbrook/Augustin/Payne
Roberson/Morrow/Waiters
Durant/Singler/Novak
Ibaka/McGary/Collison
Adams/Kanter

Seems likely, but the centers and 2nd and 3rd PFs may be about even minutes.

If they just gave him the minutes he has the talent, but they won't.

Payne has talent but, to put it bluntly, he's just not very bright. He'll get minutes because KG is pushing 40 but he is clearly behind Bjelica in basketball ability and in the rotation.

I would not be surprised to see Martin cut in favor of keeping Quincy Miller...

PG: Reggie Jackson / Brandon Jennings / Spencer Dinwiddie
SG: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope / Jodie Meeks / Reggie Bullock / Darrun Hilliard
SF: Marcus Morris / Stanley Johnson / Quincy Miller
PF: Ersan Ilyasova / Anthony Tolliver
C: Andre Drummond / Aron Baynes /Joel Anthony

With the Miller for Blake trade...

PG: Reggie Jackson / Brandon Jennings / Steve Blake/Spencer Dinwiddie
SG: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope / Jodie Meeks / Reggie Bullock
SF: Marcus Morris / Stanley Johnson
PF: Ersan Ilyasova / Anthony Tolliver
C: Andre Drummond / Aron Baynes /Joel Anthony

I expect Stanley to grab the starting spot part way into the season moving Morris to PF and Ersan to the bench. Bullock is looking great so far and will most likely get the nod over Meeks sooner than later and could give KCP a run for that starting role.

Oklahoma City Thunder
Russell Westbrook / Cameron Payne / D.J. Augustin
Andre Roberson / Dion Waiters / Anthony Morrow
Kevin Durant / Kyle Singler / Steve Novak
Serge Ibaka / Nick Collison / Mitch McGary / Josh Heustis
Steven Adams / Enes Kanter

Collison and McGary could split minutes until McGary proves he can take over Collison's role.

I think it's likely that Payne and Augustin split minutes as the back-up until it is clear who fits the team better.

I believe Waiters and Morrow could split minutes behind Roberson. This is really a 3-headed monster with Waiters and Morrow getting more minutes than Roberson and it varying with match ups.
