LAL/Nets: Joe Johnson+RHJ for Nick Young

Post#1 » by mhd » Sat Jul 4, 2015 8:14 pm

Simple deal: Nets trade Joe Johnson & the rights to Hollis-Jefferson for Nick Young. The Nets get out of the luxury tax and the Lakers get a potential young wing defender in RHJ and get a vet in Joe Johnson who is expiring. The Nets also do get a needed 2g who can score in Young, whose contract isn't horrible.

I personally think Young/Johnson is actually not a bad deal. Johnson is a far better player and an expiring so Lakers get slightly better this year and gain cap space next year. Nets save money, they won't be looking at cap space next year anyways?

Don't think the Nets should/would add value really. Definitely not an actual decent piece like RHJ.

I like the trade, this would save the Brooklyn Nets a monumental amount of money. That said, with their 'resignings', it looks like they have the intent of winning once again.

RHJ is the Nets only asset...why would they trade him for a liability? apparently they are not that cash poor to need to get out of the lux tax at all costs.

I'm not even a big fan of how we acquired Rondae; but for what we paid, he's gonna stay. I would do this with McCullough, given our potential glut of PFs. But I'm not sure our FO would even do that, they seem to have promised him that selection.

we take this instantly, a year rental of joe johnson (which makes us somewhat decent) and RHJ in the future. We don't lose

With Hibbert going to the Lakers, not enough cap space to do this trade.

any of you laker fans think david lee might be brought in too? roy and dave would give ya quite a front court. not sure if you have enough to get it done, assuming Russell is obviously a no no. kind of hope LA does. bring in the "unwanted front court", could be interesting

Sure if gsw takes back young and kelly

I can't see JJ just being a straight salary dump. The Nets still need to compete as they don't own their own 1st round pick. The only pure salary dump I think would be Deron Williams... Anyone who wants him can gladly take him.

we would pretty much require this to happen, just for cap purposes
