ORL all in with POR/SAC

Post#1 » by Laimbeer » Wed Aug 19, 2015 7:00 pm

SAC: Oladipo, Gordon, Leonard, ORL 2016 1st - Rebuild package for disgruntled Cousins
POR: Vuc, Hezonja, Payton, Nicholson - Rebuilding with the loss of LMA
ORL: Cousins, Lillard - Go all in and consolidate to two young stars

Cousins isn't disgruntled.

And whatever Orlando has left after this isn't really good enough because they traded everyone away.

So our entire team for 2 players? No thank you. Sure, they'd be a fun pair to watch but both need the ball in their hands to be effective right? Leaving us with?

Lillard
Fournier
Tobias
Dedmond
Cousins?

Crazy trade but it's really not bad at all. I think SAC should get a small asset from POR like protected first also.

Orl gives up a lot so POR should ship them McCollum cuz hezonja+vuc+Payton is worth way more than lillard and leonard

I'm not sure how much better Orlando would be after this.

We aren't trading Cousins but this is a better attempt than most that I see.

My only thing is the package for Lillard is arguably better than the one for Cousins. Oladipo/Gordon is a wash with Payton/Mario and then Vuc is thrown in as well where I don't place really any value for Leonard. I would say the Lillard package is a bit of an overpay as well. If Lillard was on the block Payton/Hezonja should be nearly enough to get it done imo.

I think this is a massive overpay! I would counter offer Vuc, our 2016 1st, and Fournier for Cousins. I wouldn't gut the team for any 1 or 2 players. not sure Cousins even fits the attitude that Orlando has been building with for 3 years.

So the team after these trade is:

Lilard/Watson/Napier
Fournier/Green/Harvey
Harris/Ejim/Marble
Frye/Smith
Cousins/Dedmon

I really don't see how that's any better then:

Payton/Watson/Napier
Oladipo/Fournier/Green
Harris/Hezonja/Marble
Gordon/Nicholson/Frye
Vucevic/Smith/Dedmon

Agreed, but Willie isn't on our team anymore. Don't you put that evil on us for another year!

Somehow, this trade looks terrible for all sides involved. I tip my hat to you good sir.

In a strange way I kind of like it for ORL long term . They are getting arguably two top 10 players in the NBA. What would their cap situation be like long term though?

nah, lillard/leonard for payton/herzonja/vuc, I don't love the actual pieces but value-wise that's an undeniable win for us.

Why would the Kings make a rebuild trade when it'd lose us our pick next year. Also just no to trading Cousins.

Because Philly still sucks.
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.

i dont think its arguable, Lilliard isnt a top-10 player and honestly, Cousins isnt either.

If I´m Orlando, I do this without thinking. I have many assets and I hope at least one of them will be at least as good as the pieces coming my way? Yes, thank you.

Lillard + Cousins is a great foundation that you can have 5+ years, and they would be contenders in the east right off the bat.
No brainer for Orlando IMO.

The second team was 25-57 last season. They're young and they'll get better, but the general consensus is that core will never be a serious contender for a title. Cousins and Lillard are probably both better than anyone currently on the team will ever be. They wouldn't instantly make Orlando a contender, but the idea would be to build around them and maybe they attract other players. I'd rather start with two outstanding players than a fistful of good ones.

guess i am just not a believer in Lilliard.

Vuc/HEzonja/Gordon/Dipo/Payton and a 1st, is a bit much.

I would rather see what it would take just for Cousins.
