Offers for Aaron Afflalo

Post#1 » by Jwduff » Sat Feb 6, 2016 3:07 am

He's hurting the development of Porzingis specifically late in games and any asset Knicks could get for him would be nice. Obviously Not expecting that much

Out of curiosity, how is he hurting Porzingis' development? Is he hogging the ball or something?

IMO Kristaps should be the second option and have the offense run through him outside of Melo but Afflalo seems to take it over whether its him or the staff I am not sure

Monta Ellis, Noah, spencer hawes. Knick fans thinking they need Afflalo look at that. Any of those deals would be great for the Knicks.

I believe Phil signed Afflalo to trade him. And he does have value. Some of that value could work great for the Knicks. Like those 3

How does Noah (who won't play) for Afflalo and another player (lets say Amundson) help NY at all?

I don't see the reason to trade Afflalo and I disagree with the premise that AA hurts KP. If anything, him taking shots is taking pressure off of KP (who needs a freaking break).

I am all for trading Afflalo for the right type of pieces, meaning EC + asset. AA can be had for a piece with upside (albeit limited). To offer back-up level guys locked in cap-neutral deals will ultimately hamper our ability to throw max money at role players this summer (I am a bit bitter).

I know Afflalo's badly overrated by people who think he's a useful defender, but Monta's iffy on a larger, longer contract, Hawes isn't good at all and Noah's out for the rest of his contract. This isn't value being offered.

Don't think I'd give a first for an Afflalo rental and backup point - though I like Galloway.

Afflalo has been asked to assume the secondary scoring option this season though he has been a better option as the third or probably fourth option on those Denver teams with Melo, Billups, Martin and Nene. It's actually a wise move in Porzingis' development but Knick fans typically have difficulty waiting for players to grow. Still, Afflalo's metrics are near or at the bottom of the league for twos and Galloway along with Grant need floor time if they are ever going to be able to play in half court sets. It's a classic case of take one for the team. The Knicks had a run of a half dozen games before Melo turned his ankle and Williams and the rest of the mediocre players regressed away from executing the offense. Though it might be wise to trade Afflalo for an expiring and a late first or second round pick I suspect Jackson values getting the system flowing with the continuity of the roster more for the bench players who may be around next season and I don't discount Afflalo being resigned as he is better than their current alternatives.

This is actually a really good idea. Not sure NYK needs anymore bigs though do they?

They have Lopez, Zinger, O'Quinn, and Williams under contract next season. Might not be hard to find a taker for O'Quinn or Williams with the cap going up, or a low level swap for a perimeter player.
