Knicks - Rockets - Clippers - Jazz

Post#1 » by Manhattan Project » Tue Feb 9, 2016 5:46 pm

Knicks Trade
Jose Calderon
Arron Afflalo
Lance Thomas
Jerian Grant

Knicks Get
Lance Stephenson
Trevor Booker
KJ McDaniels
2016 Second Round Pick Returned
-----------------------
Rockets Trade
KJ McDaniels
2016 Knicks Second Round Pick

Rockets Get
Jerian Grant
Branden Dawson
-----------------------
Clippers Trade
Lance Stephenson
Branden Dawson

Clippers Get
Arron Afflalo
-----------------------
Jazz Trade
Trevor Booker

Jazz Get
Jose Calderon
Lance Thomas

Why for Knicks: Roll the dice on Lance Stephenson being the ball handler of the team, allowing him to potentially get back to his Pacer days. Pick up some much needed perimeter defense and athleticism in McDaniels.

Why for Rockets: Pick up a rookie point guard in Grant who can probably turn into a solid player once out of the triangle and another young player in Dawson.

Why for Clippers: Upgrade their bench with a better piece that fits. Afflalo is a consistent player who can thrive off the bench while playing solid defense.

Why for Jazz: Pick up a point guard veteran who can bring some veteran leadership to the position that needs it right now. Also pick up Lance Thomas whose quietly turned himself into a real solid bench player this year.
Jazz:
Allen l Wagner
Randle l Olynyk
Porter Jr l Marshall l Tucker
Herro l Okogie l Payton
Fox l Jones

As a Jazz fan not bad, anything to get rid of Booker.
Ingles is cooked.

As a Jazz fan I like Booker, but, I think this serves our needs pretty well.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

I like it from the Jazz POV but can't see the Knicks doing this deal to roll the dice on Lance Stephenson who's been dead weight for 2 seasons now.

Can't trade Lance Thomas. He has a no trade clause.

I have a hard time believing that we can't sign someone with similar impact for less than what Calderon makes this year. As long as Thomas waives his NTC I'm OK with it, but I can't help but feel that it's kind of a waste.

He has the option to waive it.

But will he to play behind Hood and Hayward?

He'd also be behind Burks and probably Joe Ingles. So, who knows? Usually contracts with NTC's also have trade kickers, so who knows. Thomas really isn't the prize of the deal, though. The Knicks could just throw in a future 2nd and it would have just as much value to us.

The cost of dumping Calderon is not a Booker-Thomas 2-months rental swap.

uff.. I don't like it for new york. Afflalo/thomas are important pieces for this and next year and grant is the longterm PG prospect.
