Get the Bulls a center

Post#1 » by drosestruts » Thu Apr 28, 2016 4:39 am

I'm very nervous about the Bulls going into the offseason without a center on their roster, I feel the small cap space (relatively to others in the league) the Bulls have would be better spent if they didn't feel an urgency to fill a particular position. Therefore I'm hoping to find a suitable trade to land the Bulls a center.

Idea #1:

Chicago in: Tiago Splitter

Atlanta in: Mike Dunleavy Jr., Tony Snell and 2017 Sacramento 1st round pick (top 10 protected)

Bulls get Splitter on an expiring deal, which aligns perfectly with Rose and Gibson's expiring deals giving them the opportunity for significant changes in 2017. Splitter is a good passer which fits in well with Hoiberg's focus on ball movement. Atlanta gets some wing depth and a potential 1st round pick from Sacramento and some additional cap space this summer.

Idea #2:

Chicago in: Lucas Nogueira and Deleon Wright

Toronto in: Bobby Portis and Tony Snell

A bit of a prospect shuffle for these two teams. The Raptors have solid depth at point guard (Lowry & Joseph) and Center (Valancunias and Biyombo) but could use a power forward and wing. Bulls meanwhile could use a center and point guard.

Any other ideas?

Mike Dunleavy to GSW (for TPE and cash)
Sign Dwight Howard.

I know GSW fans can't stand Dunleavy, but he's a decent player - and i don't even think the bad memories we have of him can ruin what we got going. Its almost like coming full circle. Of course if this happened and we struggled next year i'd be banned for life for even suggesting it.

Bulls clear just a little more salary so they can overpay Dwight Howard. But hey, he would be a better center than i've seen suggested elsewhere.

I wonder if the Knicks or Nets would trade a Lopez for rebuild pieces and filler?

If Poetl drops to 10 and the Bucks take him maybe they'd be interested in trading down with you.

Something like the 14th, the Kings pick, and Dunleavy for MCW and the 10th pick.

The Bucks move MCW who is a bad fit for their roster and draft Wade Baldwin at 14 while picking up an additional asset and a needed veteran presence for the locker room.

The Bulls solve both their needs getting a young Center and a back up PG for Rose.

Okafor and Lakers pick for Butler?

You could probably sign Dwight as I don't see too many teams wanting him

Was thinking the same - Robin Lopez for the 14th pick and the SAC pick (most likely 2 2nds)?

Knicks could offer to take back Dunleavy's deal to open cap space for the Bulls. Bulls would have $12.5 million after taking on Lopez. If NY eats Dunleavy Bulls have $16.65. They should be able to move Snell ($2.3 m, opens up $1.55 more in space) for free if needed, getting them up to $18.2

Lopez/Portis
Mirtoic/Gibson
Butler/McDermott
Snell/Holiday
Rose

Plus the cap space.

Detroit would at least have to throw in pick #18, and that still might not get it done.

I think adding #18 is pretty fair. I don't think Detroit would offer anything more than that though as Baynes has been pretty good.

I like this for both. So, as a Philly fan, count me opposed. :)

I'm not sold Baynes is movable for raw cap space.

I'd do this. Do the Bulls feel comfortable with Portis/Mirotic at the 4? I'd even do Koufos for Snell if they don't want to deal the depth up front.

Not unless we trade Melo. If we did I might consider a deal involving picks and/or prospects for Lopez.
Why rely on nuance, facts and logic when you can bludgeon the other side with mindless repetition of "Duuur McDaniel's has potential :tooth and still be treated as if you were reasonable.
