If the draft is anything to go by, the market for mediocre centers is going to be bone dry. Many teams are content playing small and switch heavily on defense than have a non-contributing center only to have a big body. I still see him returning to the Clippers for about $6 mil per only because Doc Rivers isn't savvy enough to find one outside his nest.

He's obviously hoping that someone will upgrade him from his vet min contract with the Clippers. But, as Slava observed, however, the centre market may be a little dry this summer. Personally, I like him as a back up center- he's been pretty consistently solid in terms of WP/48, BPM, VORP and BPM for the last 3 or so seasons. I suspect some team is going to do well for themselves at something around the Tax payer MLE / room exception level.

I don't think he'll have any problem finding a decent contract. If his next contract is as small as predicted in this thread, I hope he signs that with the Spurs.

I could see Portland giving him a decent contract if we strike out with the top-tier C FAs.

Decent back-up, but a 1 dimensional center in a league that is using those types less and less.

3 years at $7M per seems like it could happen, but I wouldn't want to pay that price.

cole aldrich was very good for the clippers in spot starts and decent backup minutes. any team that signs him, especially as a starter, will be pleasantly surprised.

While the need for guys like him is dwindling there still are quite a few teams out there in desperate need for a center and only a limited number of them on the market. He'll probably get something around 6-8 million per.

These estimates all seem really low.

my guess is he's gonna get a contract bigger than what's expected here, people are gonna freak out like they did last year with guys like AFA, then he's gonna come out playing like a beast making everyone go "wow that's a bargain"

I hope not. I don't get the Cole Aldrich love with some Blazer fans.

I could see the Pacers grabbing him to serve as Turner's backup.

I want the Hornets to go after him. We can afford to give him close to $12 million a year if we let Jefferson and Lee walk, but I hope we'd sign him for around 8 million a year.

I think he gets the MLE. He's worth more, but he lacks the perception of being a rim protector, despite his 3.3 blocks per 36 min last year and 2.7 per 36 for his career, that would get him to the $12-15M range. He's been a good defensive center his whole career and has finally gotten enough playing time the last two seasons to get noticed.
