If the Hawks can't retain Horford, ill offer this idea for them to stay competitive in 2016, create flexibility in 2017 while Bucks get a veteran backcourt player and a future asset
To Atlanta
-Greg Monroe
To Milwaukee
-Thabo Shefelosha
-2018 Minnesota 1st round pick (1-14 protected, 1-14 protected in 2019, or 2nd round picks in 2020 and 2021)
Why?
-Atlanta gets Monroe who can be potential short term C who can opt out along with Milsap in 2017. Given all the wings Atlanta took in the draft, this make Shefelosha expendable.
Schroder/FA/FA/
FA?/Hardaway/Patterson
Korver/Prince/Bembry
Milsap/Scott/Muscala
Monroe/Splitter/Tavares
-Milwaukee gets further flexibility to try and add a different type of C to mesh with other parts while getting a short term SG/SF off bench as well as a future pick from Adrian Payne trade. They can add key veterans at the PG and PF with remaining cap/exemptions.
MCW/Ennis/FA?
Middleton/Vaughn/Brogdon
Parker/Shefelosha/Inglis
Giannis/FA?/O'Bryant
FA?/Henson/Maker
Hawks/Bucks

Pass. I would rather just sign Dwight, Noah, Zaza or Speights.

Throw in the rights to Cordinier and you got yourself a deal.

Or don't and you still have a deal.

Re: Hawks/Bucks
If Monroe brings back a 1st and a useful player, I'll be really surprised. He's been on the block for a while now. That said, teams give away 1st round picks for guys like Vazquez, Bargs, and Bellini so I'm done making definitive statements.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

Are you not in the 95% that loves Cordinier from our board?
I know you're in the 50% that would trade Monroe for a new basketball lol.

I mean obviously I'd love to have his rights but its certainly not a deal breaker to getting a useful player, a first round pick and $13 million in cap space.

If we are getting both Thabo and future 1st, I would even be willing to take back Splitter if Atlanta was looking to dump him.
