James Harden for John Wall

Post#1 » by Laimbeer » Tue Jun 28, 2016 12:52 am

Each player fits their new team's coaching style better, Wall with D'Antoni pushing the ball and Harden with Brooks playing iso.

Harden is much better than John Wall. That's not even the Rockets fan talking, he just is objectively way better

Harden is a much better player than John Wall.

Let alone the lop sided trade proposal, both Harden and Wall are the two least possible players to be traded in the league with their respective teams. Come on man.

Harden for Wall plus Beal is fair.

I'm a little surprised with the responses so far. i wouldn't give up Wall for Harden... but just my opinion.

Regardless of what you think of Harden's or Wall's value (or Beal's value), a Harden for Wall trade wouldn't significantly improve the Wizards without a whole lot of creative roster building, and the Wizards management team doesn't seem to have what it takes for that. Maybe Brooks' presence makes a difference, maybe not. I think they would be better off trading some or all of Wall, Beal, Gortat and rights to Satoransky for rebuilding assets, keeping Porter and hoping Oubre develops, but they just blew a lot of money on Brooks, and they never consult with me on any of their moves.

Does the style-of-play/fit rationale make sense?

If I was on the Wizards staff, I would never trade John Wall for James Harden. Harden has some great skills but his game needs the perfect players around it for team success in the play-offs. Besides, I prefer watching Wall play.

Trading talent for fit rarely makes sense in the NBA. Could argue that Harden is the better fit for D'Antoni.

Add an unprotected Wiz 1st and its much closer but why would the Rockets want change for a dollar when they already have a full dollar? Beal's health is a concern while Harden is a freaking ironman, he's easily the best player in the deal, and his salary is less than Wall's

Obviously he's not awful but he might be awfully overpaid once he resigns.

Injury is part of it, but he's never really put together a great half season either. He's not a star and he doesn't have a track record of being a particularly great role player either.

With Beal you run the risk of paying >$20M per year to a guy who's a pretty average starting 2 guard when healthy, who's only healthy half the time.

I think there is no question Harden is a better fit. MDA would hate having such an offensively limited cornerstone player. I love John Wall, but he's not an MDA point guard.

I'd actually love to pair these two players together, but neither team has the assets to acquire the other player.

Rockets are not trading Harden although I have a higher opinion of Wall than most people here.
