Back again: Getting OKC a wing

Well after today the future looks more focused. OKC's likely out of free agency next year, so at this point trade seems the likely way to get a decent SF. Currently the depth is (early on so its still changing):

Westbrook/Payne/Christon
Oladipo/Morrow/Abrines
Roberson/Singler/Huestis
Sabonis/Ilyasova/Collison
Adams/Kanter/Lauvergne

The goal is to upgrade the SF, with the following on the table:
Kanter
Lauvergne
Ilyasova
Morrow
Huestis

and possibly Payne, but only if there's a truly good upgrade and a backup PG as well in return. Ideal targets would be guys like Chandler, Aminu, Matthews. Others in mind would be Tucker or Gay. Not sure of any others. Any interest/other ideas?

I don't see how any of those guys would be able to get you a good starting wing. I'm not sure who would want to take on kanter and his huge contract.

Not thrilled w/ Covington but I'd debate that one. But McConnell wouldn't cut it for a backup PG.

And I was being generous hehe.

As has been said that's kind of a hodge podge of assets. Nothing overly desirable enough to upgrade over Roberson. Payne has some upside, but if you require another solid backup PG, again, you're not going to be able to upgrade significantly over Roberson.

Memphis just invested a max into Conley after doing the same with Marc a year earlier. They are kind of committed to fighting for whatever seed they can get.

I think Covingtons ability to play the small ball 4 is very underrated. Perfect player to play with russ

Yeah I would take him on second thought. The McConnell part is the hard sell. I'd rather just play Semaj, and that's not a really good option.

There's definitely a team out there that would give up a decent guard for a second coming from philly plus one of your reserve bigs

I would think that Kanter should be able to get a decent wing type player, but we need to find a team that needs an upgrade at center and has the right kind of SF to send to OKC matching money and no on a heinous contract.

There are scant few 3's out there who are even worth pursuing.

None of which I can see as available who make sense outside of Rudy Gay.

Kanter to a 3rd team with Gay and pieces coming back to OKC makes sense.

It seems like wings are the hardest position to fill with quality players right now. Almost no sellers, lots of teams looking.

I really don't think Presti wants to spend 72/4 for a guy that turns 35 at the end of that contract.

Matthews will probably never be the guy he was before his injury. Given that his contract goes for another two years and his shot hasn't really discovered, I don't think that's what Presti'd be looking for.
