Pistons | Hornets | Wolves

Post#1 » by rugbyrugger23 » Sun Jan 15, 2017 5:49 pm

Wolves go for it, Pistons go a different direction, and MJ relishes the opportunity to mentor Wiggins into player he could be...

Pistons Trade: Drummond + Choose Worst Contract/Player Out
Pistons Receive: Kaminsky + Dunn + Wolves 2017 1st
Pistons Why: go in different direction and move Drummond for 2 recent high draft picks, cap space and a 1st that could be 8-16. Dunn can work his way in the backcourt, pushing both Jackson and KCP for minutes and their starting role (and just might make one of them expendable).

Hornets Trade: MKG + Belinelli + Kaminsky + 2017 1st
Hornets Receive: Wiggins + Aldrich + Pistons Worst Contract/Player In
Hornets Why: MJ drools at chance to slide Wiggins between Batum and Walker and push Wiggins to maximize his raw talent.

Wolves Trade: Wiggins + Dunn + Aldrich + 2017 1st
Wolves Receive: Drummond + MKG + Belinelli + Hornets 2017 1st
Wolves: Thibs "solves" the Wiggins-LaVine pairing dilemma, by getting a defensive specialist in MKG next to LaVine and a big who can bang next to Towns. Drummond might not be an elite rim protector, but him and Towns, tutored by Thibs, can master this craft as Twin-Cities-Towers.

F: Towns | Bjelica | Payne
F: MKG | Bazz | Rush
G: LaVine | Belinelli
G: Rubio | Jones

Yeah, we'd pretty much have to do that if we were offered it. Still think this is bad for Detroit though. Drummond is the kind of player you hope to get with a top 8 pick.

I'm not as firmly on the Drummond bandwagon as I used to be, but this deal is a quarter for three nickels. Would be more intriguing if Kaminsky had more upside or if Dunn was younger. The pick could be interesting, but I doubt the Wolves would leave it unprotected.

I don't like this one for MIN. To me:

Wiggins >= Drummond
Dunn >= MKG
Aldrich >= Belinelli
MIN 2017 > CHA 2017

I don't like the Drummond fit in MIN, and I think if DET was trading Drummond, they'd rather have Wiggins than a bunch of CHA's "good" assets.

As a CHA fan I run from this. Not at all sold on Wiggins.

I probably do it as long as that Wolves pick is top 5

Like MotownMadness said if the wolves pick is top 5 but I'd also want the Hornets pick as well.

For the record, I'm against the Pistons trading Drummond.

That said, IF a deal like this was to go down, it's got one team too many. Either cut out the Pistons and let the Hornets make up the difference in value between Wiggins and MKG / Belli / 1st rounder, or else cut out the Hornets and let the Pistons make up the difference in value between Drummond and Wiggins / Dunn (and either direction starts by the Wolves keeping their pick). It's a no-go as currently constructed 'cuz the Pistons would never trade Drummond to facilitate Wiggins to a third team in order to get Kaminsky and an 8th – 16th pick; in short, if Drummond goes to Minny, Wiggins comes to Motown.

And not to thread jack, but there was a Wolves fan a few weeks ago who offered Dunn straight up for Marcus Morris. That's obviously WAY smaller, but I couldn't say yes fast enough back then and I'd say it even faster now.
