If Sac turned down 10 and 5 for 2 why in the world would they all of a sudden change their minds on that decision while simultaneously bailing LAL out of Dengbatross's contract?

If the Kings wouldn't trade Nos. 5 & 10 for No. 2, I can't see why they'd do this.

If you want to dump Deng, you'll have to move down to No. 10. That's probably enough to get PG

I do agree with you that on the surface this looks horrible for the Magic, but i feel this helps the Magic long term. I think that the magic need to make a move up in this draft to hopefully get an impact player. For the last few years the magic have been on the wrong side of the top tier in the draft and with new management in place they really need to take a swing here. I do hate to take on the long term salary but i feel the risk is worth it to have a shot at a player like Ball\JJ\Tatum.

Well in fairness this deal is 5 OR 10, not both, so that's not really a fair comparison.

That said, I think its pretty clear the Kings wouldn't do this. They might hesitate on the deal if it was just the number 10 pick if there's 2 top 5 guys they really really want.

There was some backlash from trading Russell to dump Mozgov earlier this week. It would aggravate some in their fanbase again to trade back from #2 to dump Deng. My guess is that they wouldn't want the negative publicity such a move would bring.

To a certain extent, but if #2 + Deng for #10 happens, this is what they would have to show for several seasons of whatever they have been doing on the court:

* 2017 -- #10
* 2017 -- #27
* Ingram
* Randle who will need a new contract soon and still has some things to improve on


2017 -- #28 was from a trade with Houston
Nance was acquired with a pick from the Houston moving Lin.
Clarkson was acquired with a purchased pick


Overall, the direct results from their W/L record won't be that much to brag on. Yes, they will have cap space, but they could have achieved that and still had come away with better assets in the first category.
