What about if the Raptors 1st conveys to the Spurs post-lottery?

Simons and 14 to the Spurs for 7?

I think Simons has a bit more value but end of the day I would take this.

What if it was expanded to maximize SAS cap space -

Simons + 14 for Graham + 7 + one of SAS future owned picks (Perennial LP)

Agree, but I think Jerami Grant is a little context dependent.

Including his 2027-28 PO, Grant is owed another $132M for 4 years. I could see a team with a shortish contending window (like Philly) willing to take that on, but a team like DET or TOR might hesitate to commit that much money.

I strongly think Grant will be targeted as a consolation prize for teams that strike out on a bigger fish this summer. Alot of teams are looking for a '3rd star' (PHI, SAC, LAL, MIA, etc) and once PG13, DDR, etc are off the market I think a win-now not fiscally conservative team will pony up a bundle that will surprise some.

Then again I am wrong all the time.

I personally like Simons for Lower of '25 Nuggets/Magic 1st. I know Blazers fans don't like it, but it gets them below the tax and gets them a second 1st in 2 straight drafts between 2024 and 2025 which is a solid jumpstart to see through this rebuild.

This is probably how it will play out. The problem for the Blazers is that they are close to the salary curtain But
also very short on talent. Doing a salary dump with minimal return value is going to be a tough sell to fans and the front office.

One would have to weigh just paying taxes for Brogdon drops off their books after next season,
followed by Ayton the following season. Letting those guys walk will eventually take care of
the need to avoid paying taxes

Portland is a team which is not a FA destination and using the draft to add lottery talent in 2024
and 2025 at the very least would begin to re-stock the shelves in Portland.

Brogdon / Williams / #14

for

Jock / Green / Tate / #9

I’d that as long as Green was on the move elsewhere.

You knew who he meant and wanted nothing to do with him. It was funny.

This is kind of my thinking too. There's more cap space teams than "stars" (even using that term loosely) to spend it on. I wouldn't be surprised if someone offers cap space plus a future 1st or two for Grant after they miss out on Siakam/PG13/DDR etc.

I think Anfernee Simons fits the Detroit Pistons like a glove and a trade built around Simons for Jaden Ivey feels like the right kind of value. Now, I do question the fit for Portland so this would likely need to be a 3 team trade where Portland gets either a better fitting rookie scale player or picks Ivey for a pick, but the pieces make some sense here. Maybe Portland and Detroit swap picks if say POR is #5 and DET is #3 in this kind of a scenario as well. This kind of a move provides Portland with a big time savings.

Could Grant be included in a deal like this and sent back to Detroit? Maybe - I can see the fit and a lineup of Cade-Simons-Thompson-Grant-Duran works. But i'm not sure how much value DET would be willing to give up here to make this kind of a deal work.

Would rather move him for pick(s) and and a worse player. Zero interest in Sexton.

I tried trading him for a pick but Blazers fans said a '25 1st and taking on the salary in full wasn't enough for Simons

I’m ready to move on from Simons. He can’t play with Scoot or Sharpe.

I'd rather they just pay the tax as opposed to giving guys away for little reward.

Brogdon has an expiring contract and Thybulle has a player option after next season
so getting under the tax line won't be a problem after next season.
