Dallas out: Gafford, Marshall, 2 seconds
Dallas in: White, Smith

Philadelphia out: Drummond, Grimes (S&T 3/50?)
Philadelphia in: Gafford

Chicago trade: White, Smith
Chicago receive: Grimes (S&T 3/50?), Drummond, 3-4 2nds

Atlanta trade: 2nd(s)
Atlanta receive: Marshall

Why for Dallas: upgrade backcourt/scoring
Why for Philly: Embiid insurance
Why for Chicago: add a better backcourt fit to Giddey and free up lots of capspace for next offseason
Why for Atlanta: fill backup SF hole
Why for Grimes: get above MLE money

Isn't Philly rumored to be looking to cut salary? Not spend top dollar on a center? Either Embiid can play enough games to make Philly relevant in which case Drummond should be fine, or he can't and Gafford isn't solving that.

Also not sure Atlanta gives up cap space and 2nds for Marshall?

Seems good for Grimes who gets paid here. Good for Dallas in terms of addressing a major need and even if White walks, they've shed a lot of future money.

Not sure I see it for anyone else really.

Philly is looking to cut salary to keep grimes which makes zero sense to me when they have vj/mccain/maxey/Gordon in backcourt already. I think they need to seriously decrease embiids minutes and load manage him even if he is healthy. To do that they need a better backup C.

I think chicago should be hesitant to pay big money to white as a poor fitting starter next to giddey. They dont seem to be interested in trading him for a pick so wanted to see their fans opinion on getting a cost controlled young SG to start next to Giddey. This should allow them to make a big splash in FA next year too.

Atlanta is well below the tax and could use some more defensive wing depth but you might be right there..

I hate to give up our only remaining seconds, especially since we're trading away solid players and not dumping trash, but I see the fit, and it does address some pressing needs for Dallas. I'd like WHite or AYo from Chi. Being an MD boy, I'm all for Smith being the third big Dallas need since the main two are made of glass.

The Bulls easily pass

Grimes is nowhere near as good as White and the Bulls know who White is on and off the court, they'd be better off resigning him
Historically the Bulls don't do much with 2nd round picks but 3-4 spaced out might be OK
I would love to get Andre Drummond back on the Bulls but by trading Jalen Smith you have STUCK the Bulls with 3 7 foot centers so you know that's an awful situation to get into and no team does that willingly
The Bulls have 6 count 'em SIX expiring contracts including White, a couple more they likely want to return at the right price so they really aren't getting any cap space swapping Smith for Drummond especially if they're extending Grimes

Capspace is freed up for next year. Grimes = 16.5 M vs possibly 30 for white and smiths 9 mil is off the books

Atlanta is currently ~$3.5 million under the Luxury Tax, this takes them over.

Yeah, Spotrac has Atlanta just under 8 mil below the tax with 13 players after the Kobe trade. You could do this trade and just look to trim that 1.04 mil before the deadline once Luke is trade eligible..

It’s also possible to dump Vit or Gueye at the trade deadline, play the 10 day contract game as long as allowed and sign a rest of season contract? 1.3 mil seems plenty for that game?

I think with the pick debt this season, it would be smart for Philly to upgrade Drummond and then retool the roster again next offseason depending on how Joel/PG/VJ/Maxey look. So I like it for Philly.. But doesn’t match what real life rumors say.

Dallas seems to get a good deal, despite them not really being able/willing to add more. Not worth the LAL first if it’s Gafford/Naji instead of Klay imo.

Chicago shouldn’t do it imo. Grimes could be a good fit with Giddey, but I’d just keep Coby as the better player. If they were going to tank this season and hope to add a long term piece to Giddey/Matas - I think they should take the OP as a way to add a better fit. But they just want to be as okay as possible - and that’s Coby.
