Lakers Trade: Odom, Ariza, Walton, and Farmar
LAkers Get: Hinrich, Nocioni, and Stephen Jackson
Bynum, Mihm
Gasol, (Nocioni)
Jackson, Nocioni
Kobe, Sasha
Hinrich, Fisher
Favorites for the title?
Warriors Trade: Jackson
Warriors get: Farmar and Drew Gooden
Warriors cut salary and bring in another solid PG prospect. Move Harrington to SF, and should look stronger at PF w/ Gooden. Still think they should get more, not sure what
Bulls trade: Hinrich, Nocioni, and Gooden
Bulls get: Ariza, Luke, and Odom (and $6 mill TE)
Noah
Odom, Ty Thomas
Deng, Walton, Ariza
Gordon/Thabo, Ariza
Rose, Gordon
Bulls have to play Gordon more than probably want to, but gain financial flexibility while adding more length and flexibility to the front court. The Bulls save $6 mill immediately, and pretty much wipe Hinrich's salary off the cap next season while bringing in cheaper player than Nocioni

Re: LA-CHI-GS
Let's see, the Warriors don't even warrant a lineup breakdown. On top of that you suggest that Harrington would be an acceptable SF on a Nellie coached team.
Gooden doesn't have a starter's skill set for a Nellie team, so he wouldn't start at PF. He's more of a backup center on the Warriors, which isn't needed in the least with Turiaf in place.
Warriors have no interest in Farmar as DeMarcus Nelson has greatly impressed Nellie so far.

Re: LA-CHI-GS
Well....the Lakers send GSW a rd 1,09, and it gets at least worth a second look. LAL, in Win Now mode gets 2 starters and a rotation F,and drops a bunch of contract. Farmar-Gooden are, however, more short-term patches than important assets. In that respect ,Jackson probably serves as well for now.
For LAL....getting both the Hinrich+ Nocioni contracts may be against their plans. This boosts them short run but LAL is a franchise that's got potential clout in free agency. Committing to Hinrich+ Noc could derail any notion of adding a FA star to the mix.
Chi sees Odum as one main piece vs 3 they lose....and then they get SOME cap relief but are left with Walton's deal.
Seems like a deal all 3 teams ALMOST can accept...but none ultimately would do.

We get nothing we really want or need out of this deal. Farmar is nice, but we're fine with Watson/Williams/Nelson until Ellis gets back, and Gooden would have no role on our team. Pass.

Unfortunately, the Lakers can't trade a first rounder until after the Gasol trade is satisfied...LA's next available pick is 2012.

Unless Kobe opts out earlier, the Lakers aren't going to be adding any "FA stars" to the mix before 2011. They are capped out until then, whether they do this trade or not, even before Bynum's impending big extension.
I agree with the bulk of your analysis, though.

Please avoid using the word "rape" with regards to a trade. It's just unnecessary.

Re: LA-CHI-GS
First off, the Lakers easily pass on taking on Hinrich+Noce's contracts for a marginal upgrade at the PG and bench spots. Its not worth the money to them and they would have a crazy payroll considering they would offer Bynum max money.
The other thing is the Bulls can't get a 6 million TPE (because every salary they trade is 7million plus). And the only player they could use for the TPE is Gooden. Hinrich+Noce is 17 million and the highest value they can take on is 21.25 million. The value of Odom+Walton+Ariza is about 21.7 million, meaning they have no TPE coming to them. Then the Bulls have to weigh the idea of getting expiring contracts of 18 million for Hinrich+Noce, but also a long range, hard to trade contract in Walton.

That isn't quite how TPEs work. If team A is over the cap, and trades away more current-year salary than they receive, they get a TPE for the difference. It doesn't matter how much each individual player is getting paid.
Hinrich + Nocioni + Gooden = $25,151,183
Odom + Walton + Ariza = $21,668,596
(All numbers from shamsports.)
The difference is $3,482,587, so the Bulls would get a TPE in that amount. (I'm not sure where omeloon got his $6M figure from...different salary info?)
