LAL - HOR McGrady - LO + Machine
Trade ID #4925746
This trade works and if http://www.nba.com/2009/news/features/01/13/daily.dose.011309/ is true or the fans are tired of an injury prone SF/SG this would work for both teams. This thread was influenced by a video of TMAC saying he wants to play w/ Jellybean before he retires.
Why for LAL: McGradey can play the 3.
Why for HOR: They have Batttier and Artest playing SF (McGradey's natural position). LO and Machine would fit in nicely for Houston. LO is also expiring which adds some value.
The + / - is almost nill. Houston gains 3 rebs per game, LAL gain 0.5 ppg.
Get ready and shoot this trade down fans... I'm waiting!

I don't think the Lakers can afford to risk whether T-Mac's health will hold. They are a championship caliber team w/o him.
Plus he would insure we are in the Luxury tax next year, a feat Dr. Buss might do...maybe, but is more likely to occur IF the Lakers re-sign Odom for a "smallish" contract if he'll agree.

What position the machine and the also often injured LO fit nicely in? The SF where Artest and Shane plays, or the PF where we have Scola, Hayes, Landry, and Dorsey? This is a bad trade for HOU and you know it. And T-Mac expires next year. HOU doesnt care about LO expiring this year because they are not going to sign any big names before 2010 unless its to resign Artest. And the machine? Oh you mean Sasha. Ha nice try. HOU best bet is to let Mac rest to be ready for the second half of the season and playoffs. If it doesnt work, look to 2010. LO and the machine does not make HOU any better.

Re: LAL - HOR McGrady - LO + Machine
Ignoring that the Lakers would be absorbing TMac's 2009-2010 contract and would therefore put the Payroll way over the likely 2009-2010 Luxury Tax ( something that I am sure that the Lakers would be more then happy to pay to get a TMac/Kobe tandem ), I suspect that the Rockets would prefer to move TMac to a Conference rival in the Western Conference. On top of that, the Rockets could probably get more for TMac then the Expiring Contract of Odom and a solid Backup Guard like Sasha who has a 3 year / 14+ mil contract. Overall, valuewise.....it's not that great of a trade for the Rockets.

Arzia or Walton or ValdRad take your pick on who would be their backup SF and who cares? Kobe is a iron man who is seldom hurt and plays 35+ MPG. Kobe, Gasol, T-Mac would give you 60-70 points alone add Bynum and Fisher and you got 90 PPG for that 5 sum.
T-Mac will get more then Sasha V and Odom. The Rockets don't need a SF/PF they have one in Battier who is a great defender and fits their system. They would want a PG if anything. They have Artest, Battier as their SG and SF.

Wasn't that Peja's nickname at some point and time? I think back in the Kings era with Valdy D, Webber, Bibby and Peja. I think I heard a announcer calling him the Machine in a 3-point shootout. Could be wrong though.

Odom has been wildly inconsistent and is a moron out on the basketball court. I'd rather have a hobbled T-Mac than him. Shame, because he gets by on his pure god-given gifts alone and can show flashes of brilliance due to it.

Re: LAL - HOR McGrady - LO + Machine
A healthy Odom + Sasha is better than a hobbled Tmac any day of the week. Rockets needs are fulfilled, we get a tall PF who can rebound, score, and put the ball on the floor, and we also get a very servicable guard who can shoot. I'd do that trade any day.
