I think it would be because

-Griffin is a better rebounder
-Griffin is a better defender
-Griffin is a true PF
-Griffin is a better low post player
-Griffin is a better player

Did I mention I'm a HUGE Beasley fan as well?

Beasley was the better college player, though Griffin is the better prospect, I think. *shrugs*

No.

Um. Trade Beasley to OKC I guess... but Beasley can't be involved in the trade so it won't happen.

Sac unprotected 09 1st, Beno Udrih

for

James Jones, Mia unprotected '11 1st, Mia unprotected '13 1st, Mia unprotected '15 1st, Mia unprotected '17 1st, Mia unprotected '19 1st, Mia unprotected '21 1st, Mia unprotected '23 1st

Deal?

LOL!!!

This is very similar to what I had in mind only mine was a little more extravagant:

Sac unprotected '09 1 st, Kenny Thomas, Mikki Moore, Beno Udrih, Quincy Douby

For

Shawn Marion, Miami unprotected '11 1 st, Miami unprotected '13 first, Miami unprotected '15 first, Sac option to pick swap 2017, 2019, 2021.

That seems fair enough to me for Griffin or the rights to Ricky Rubio.

I realize you guys are just messing around, but since you only did firsts every other year, I figure you were at least semi-trying to follow the CBA. So I'd just like to point out that according to the CBA, you can't trade 1sts more than 5 years in advance. So, we can't trade anything other than a 2011 unprotected and a 2013 unprotected.

I was being serious, but you're right - everything after the 2013 would have to be pick swap options - I was over on the years.

I treated the request as serious, so since Miami already is one more top 5 level star away from contention (Wade, Beasley, ????), then I figured that traditionally a team in that position mortgages it's future for a while to make it worthwhile for the other team.

Says who? If Beasley was in college this year he would be right up there with Harden, Curry, Hansborough and Griffin for POTY, considering he was 2nd AS A FRESHMEN. How is Beasley not a true PF? And better player, how so?

Saying that, there's no way MIA can net a top 5 pick without giving up Beasley, Wade or Chalmers.

Beasley is not a true PF. Only in college.
He is a SF in the NBA, at least as a starter.

I guess you haven't watched Beasley much this year? Because if you had, you'd know that Beasley has never once played SF in the NBA. Not even for a minute here or there.

If they keep playing like they are playing that shouldn't be a problem.
