CHI / LAL
Trade ID #4957599
Bulls trade/Lakers receive:
- Kirk Hinrich
- Drew Gooden
- Aaron Gray
Bulls receive/Lakers trade:
- Lamar Odom
- Jordan Farmar
- Chris Mihm
The Lakers pick up Kirk to man the 1 alongside Kobe long-term and replace Lamar with Gooden as a backup 4 (and 5 if needed) for the rest of the season (he's also expiring). Gray is also included as a young and cheap big body who's a true post player which is required in the triangle.
1. Hinrich, Fisher
2. Bryant, Vujacic
3. Radmanovic, Ariza, Walton
4. Gasol, Gooden
5. Bynum, Gray, Mbenga
The Bulls balance the roster a bit and pick up a nice fit in Odom at the 4 for the rest of the season, who along with Gordon coming off the books will provide the Bulls with a bit of flexibility for making moves in the offseason.
1. Rose, Farmar, Hunter
2. Gordon, Hughes
3. Deng, Nocioni, Sefolosha
4. Odom, Thomas, Ruffin
5. Noah, Mihm, Simmons

No.
Agreed with Uncle Cliffy. Tyrus Thomas would not be in the deal.

I dont think Gooden is a good Phil Jackson player. He's dumber than a box of hair.

Haha.
But anyway, Gooden isn't the focus of the deal; he's just included as a capable body to play off the bench behind Gasol and Bynum, and he's expiring as well.

Re: CHI / LAL
ultimately, ya I think both teams do it.
Hell, maybe Mihm could even get some minutes in Chi town.

They'd probably go small with Tyrus at the 5 and Noc at the 4 before they do that, but yea... he could get some spot minutes.

Re: CHI / LAL
I always liked Mihm but he got injured and shortly after the Gasol/Bynum frontcourt was created and Chris was shunned to the bench. I think he could make a comeback if someone showed some confidence in him.

I think this is a good deal for both teams. Gooden & Gray replaces Odom to backup our bigs, and we get a good PG.

Re: CHI / LAL
Mostly works for Chi if they have any interest in re-sogning Odum.

Re: CHI / LAL
I have been saying this for a year now: I doubt the Lakers move Odom's deal to take on long term salary. Hinrich isn't a high priced guy, but he isn't cheap. I think it makes a basketball sense, but in a terrible economy is Jerry Buss gonna agree to continue to pay deep into the tax for Kirk Hinrich? I say no.

You see, Farmar is a problem next year because he needs to be signed/extended. If we get Hinrich, we don't have to sign Farmar so it balances out somewhat.

I guess, but Farmar commands about half of what Hinrich does. Look, I don't want to say how the Lakers are going to spend their money, but I have a hard time imagining them paying a guy about 9 million a year for four years to be the PG of the triangle. Its overpaying for a luxury. But if you think Buss will do it, than I am mistaken.

the bulls treat odom like an expiring, the lakers don't
lakers aren't interest in trading 2 productive players for 1
no more hinrich for odom threads plz unless chicago are willing to send more in terms of talent

The difference from Gooden and Odom is the difference from Hinrich to Farmar. and this point it seems that you would need Hinrich more so than Odom, and we'd need Odom more so than Hinrich. I really dont have an opinion on this trade, I actually like Hinrich and would like to hang on to him even thought we have DRose.

Long-term, yes. Short-term, no. Odom is a guy who could really help us out for the remainder of the season.
Akiho wrote:lakers aren't interest in trading 2 productive players for 1
Both Hinrich and Gooden are productive, and Gray is what he is; a decent and very cheap backup big who can play in the post.
Akiho wrote:no more hinrich for odom threads plz unless chicago are willing to send more in terms of talent
No one is going to give up substantial value for a guy with an expiring contract. You'll have a really tough time finding a better than this for Odom.
